Here lately I've been getting a lot of grief from family members and friends for having our wedding in Vegas...

Has anyone given you any trouble with your decision to get married there?

no, actually everyone just wishes we would just go ahead and elope since we are in Las Vegas already. Everytime I tell someone that we are getting married in April, they say 'why not now!'

Are your fam and friends unhappy to travel the distance to LV?

I get more grief for only inviting family and having it on a Monday. I just keep thinking "If you have a problem then dont come!"

My family is all totally excited about the fact that Im getting married out there..

But my FI's family has been nothing but a pain in the butt.. His dad is the only one who has been supportive at all.

My FMIL keeps telling us that a Vegas wedding should be simple and easy and with only a couple of friends and family there..  But I did remind her the other day that she would have to be one of those few people that would still have to be there..

She is a hermit (not literally.. but she might as well be) So I think if the wedding were local she'd still complain about it.

And at the time we get married everyone will have 18 months of notice to save and plan.. But some people are just procrastinators.

(Sorry for the mini vent.. its just been driving me crazy!! lol)

I think overall, everyone is excited to go to Vegas and get a little vacation out of it. I've had a few comments here and there, but they were pretty much expected.

One from my FI's grandma "are you serious?" but shes old and crazy...

and one from my moms outspoken friend, "Why are you getting married in Vegas? We live in wine country!" like living in wine country means you have to get married here?

Whatever...I feel the same way, if you dont like it, dont come. Save me and yourself some money!

I sent my STD's a year in advance so everyone knew and could prepare and save. Im excited. We are making like a whole week celebration out of it, which is o my style. I do that every year with my bday  too....what can I say, I love attention! lol

We had a few people that said, "Vegas? Really?"  But I figured if they didn't like it they didn't have to go.

I find it hard not to take offense when people (I know or on TV or radio or whereever) say negative things about Vegas weddings or that they are tacky.

DH's best friend's wife and one of her friends even made negative comments about Vegas weddings and she was at our wedding.

My FI's family is giving him H*ll and back about it. Mainly because his dad is super religous and its "Sin City!" and we are getting married by a family member not a preist at a church. Because getting married in some church you dont attend by some preist you dont know is better than by a family member/best friend someone beautiful and free (Grand Canyon). And they dont want to travel or think its fair that we ask them too.

I dont think its fair that they are trying to make us have some expensive wedding, we cant afford, the whole reason we are going to Vegas to stay and having the ceremony at the Grand canyon. Its SO frustrating!

Our friends are excited (the ones that are planning on going) and the ones that cant go are happy for us and understand, as does my family.

So now the FI is wanting to look at "other options" you know why not... 110 days away. UUGGHHH!!! In Laws! Good thing they are nice ones.... :p

We are having a traditional wedding in Vegas , but most family won't be able to attend due to the cost to get there!
They are giving us grief about it! My response is that our dream wedding didn't involve paying for 500 people to eat dinner. We are also bored to death of all the venues in our area (we live in Ohio) and the weather!
