Guest Bedroom ~ Decor Thoughts

This photo is my inspiration for our guest bedroom.  Our walls are a neutral beige right now, and I want just one red accent wall where the headboard is.  I even want to put DREAM above the headboard (I just need to figure out where to find the letters like that).

I'm in the preliminary stages of looking for beddding.  Against such a bold red wall I'm thinking something neutral.  Thoughts on these current options?  Could some other color be introduced?

Red is tricky... Picking the right shade for the wall while getting good coverage takes some trial and error. I think you're right about picking something neutral for bedding (I like all white with pops of black, brown, or charcoal), or a color on the opposite side of the color wheel (think greens, but not a Christmas-y combo). That will tone it down a bit so it's not so vibrant that your bedroom is screaming, "wake up!"

My Google Image search turned up a lot of inspiration.

This is a cute room with a good red and colored bedding:

btw, you should be able to buy those letters individually at your local craft store, and paint them whatever shade you like :)

GatorBride thanks for the tip on red walls!  I might have to get those sample pots for $5 and try my top 3 shades or something.  I've never painted with red before.

I like the idea of white bedding too with another color (or toss pillows) to anchor the look!  I might check around for that too.

After I made this post I thought that I could paint letters myself, so I just might do that :)

I think HobbyLobby has smaller letters like that, so you might check there. I like that second set of bedding you posted, too. If you got white bedding you could mix up how you accent it--just different throw pillows to get a different look!

Ihave a red accent wall in my bedroom and we have a white quilt with a black damask stiching and I love how it looks. It really brightens up the room and keeps it from feeling too heavy. I also like the way our silver bedside tables pop against the walls and contrasts with our dark furniture

I'll be no help because I love them both!

The first one is a little more retro feeling, and the second is so classic and romantic. I guess it depends on the feeling you want to have in your guest room! Will you have mostly couples visiting and sleeping there, or your hubby's drunk guy friends? KWIM? HAHA

hurleygrl135 thanks for sharing the pic, its a great visual because you have the other walls a neutral beige too!

chest173 LOL I know what you mean!  So far none of his drunk friends have stayed over, friends but not drunk.  The first one might be a safer bet for all different crowds.

no problem Athena the walls are actually a sagey green and I think it looks great! we've gotten a lot of compliments about our room. I'm usually not a fan of these colors I like blues and greens more but I really love this combo and since we're renting I don't want to have to do a ton of repainting. I do want to change out the curtains to brighten it up a little bit more but I'm unsure of what I should do. I'm leaning towards a white linen and keeping the light green leafy curtains that are on the bottom layer since the leaves are white.
