hair and make-up

i'm finally starting to look into this (or stress out over it more like it) and was hoping to get your opinions.

i've found a few potential vendors and i'm trying to decide between a professional who focuses on weddings (not sure which one yet) or a salon (Sublime in SF which I've read good reviews of and they also did the hair & make-up for a friend's wedding and all of the girls looked really good).

Are there any cons about going with someone from a salon? It seems most people have individual hair/make-up artists so i wasn't sure..

there's a chance i'll need to put a deposit down before i can actually get a trial which is why this is so difficult. any opinions are appreciated!

Hi Aussie, I went with someone who focuses on wedding versus salon.  I had a morning wedding and it was hard to find a salon that opens at 4:30 am.  So, I booked with a stylist that would come to me.

i'm going with my hair stylist, who works in a salon...  and my mua is a mac employee

Aussie....obvi we can't get the same person...but i think now i'm going to end up flying my own stylist from TX to CA....cheaper than ANY of the Bay area quotes I got...both ladies i contacted said they charge MORE since it's on a Friday.... :(

I put a listing on Craigs list for a traveling hair stylist and I found a wonderful cosmotologist that is going to be there to travel and do my hair and makeup whenever i need her. She also works at mac as a makeup artist so she can do everything for me and all i do is call her and give a place and time to be! Its great!

if so whats her # cause i'm looking for someone that could travel to me and does a great job. if anyone else knows about a great makup artist in LA let me know.

No We both live in Tucson :( but LA has a craigs list. It has everything!
