I would like to do a hanging flower initial to hang on the door of the reception. I found this picture on PW.

I would like to photo 782300-1

But instead of moss i would like to use flowers. Has anyone ever done this.  Our initial is "M" i was thinking of getting styrofoam and forming an "M" together and then sticking flowers in there. But I'm not sure if I should use real flowers or fake ones...

Let me know if you've seen these or done it yourself!

Thanks!

I"ve seen it done.  I would personally use fake so that they last longer, and don't have the maintence of hydrating.  And, you would able to purchse already made wood letters and glue them on.  Styrofoam can get messy when  trying to manipulate. :-)

I post on a local message board to my city, and a girl on there used fake flowers for hers. It was cute! I did moss for mine.

I made styrofoam wreaths using fake flowers they looked really good. I chose all white but many girls have varied the colors and they look good. You can probably find styrofoam letters.                                         I made styrofoam wreaths photo 782315-1

ok...I know where to get wooden letters. I have them for the kids...what kinda fake flowers would you suggest? The flowers I am having in the bouquets are big lilies and daisies. I know those wouldn't be a good choice because they are so big. I should just go wander Micheals or HobbyLobby. lol.

We used scrapbook paper and decoupaged the paper mache letters.  You could use a floral paper if you wanted, which would be far less expensive than using silk flowers.  Making one with flowers will be beautiful but just wanted to give you another idea of a way to use them...

hm... I can't give flower suggestions because i'm flower illiterate!  but small ones would be best.. then you can use a bunch and it would make it look even and full.

I made these for our wedding, using wooden letters and fake carnations.  Most floral initals I've seen are done in carnation. Hope this helps.

The letter is cut out of 1 inch styrofoam.  The flowers are from a silk hydrangea bloom that I just cut apart. Left a little of the stem, and attached each petal with styrofoam glue.  Have yet to add the ribbon for hanging. The letter is cut photo 782621-1
