Happily Married

Yikes - I recently moved into the new apartment with hubby (we got married in late June) and I cannot find anything! Everything except the absolute minimum is still in boxes! Plus I hate all his stuff. He just went to London on business for two weeks and I am seriously tempted to start throwing stuff out. I bet he wouldn't even notice what was missing. I guess that's what happens when you take 2 apartments worth of belongings and try to cram them into just 1!

i feel your pain... my fi and i are living like that right now.  we can't wait for a new apt!

If only we could win the lottery or something. Or get rid of all our junk!

We still haven't figured it all out yet but wire shelving, concealed behind wall to wall drapes (floor to ceiling) are the BEST.

I feel your pain. Thankfully dh an I moved in together pre-wedding, which involved a change in city also. We sold everything and used the money to buy everything new (to us). We got great c-list and ebay deals.

Yes, I was trying to get him to trash some of his stuff so we could get new stuff (plus save money on moving too) but alas I was unsuccessful!It's really carthatic to get rid of old things and start fresh (plus his stuff is ugly).

yea I'm a firm believer in living together first ~ lol mostly for this reason.  It took me years to throw out all of FI's stuff.  I literally mean years.  In fact there is a few more things I'd like to get rid of~ like his table in the office!! I'm working on it but he is really attached.  But I was able to get rid of his coffee tables, his futon couch, bed, dishes, siver wear, clothes (that I hated) he loves his new wardrobe though ;)  there was this one jacket I first took it and hid it becaus ehe secifically told me not to throw it away he loved it.  But he didn't even ask about it and a whole year went by.  Then I finally threw it out int his last moved I don't even think he remembers it!  :)

LOL! But I'm scared - it took years to ween him off his stuff? Yikes.

yea its a very slow process.  The best time to it though is when you move and when he's out of town so you have 2 things going for you.  you can say well there is no room or it doesn't fit our new place or I want something fresh and new for our new place.  These are my lines~lol  the best is when they are out of town take this time to unpack and get things where you want them ~ men are visual ~ hense the lingerie we wear for them ~ so when they see how nice you set things up while he's gone

a) he'll be in a great modd he came home to order and not chaos

b) he'll be thrilled you took care of things and he doesn't have to deal with it (men hate this sort of things)

c) he'll love the way it looks he'll no longer want his stuff cluttering you new place up!

Jeez - you could write a book with all this good advice. I'm going to start this week. A little bit every night. I think you're right about guys being visual. He can never seem to imagine how something is going to look until it's done. Will let you know how it goes!
