I keep seeing ads for honeymoon registry, has anyone done this? I've been a little hesitant about it.

We did a honeymoon regsitry through honeymoonwhishes.com - and I loved it! :) Your guests pay for something on your honeymoon (like strawberries covered in chocolate, excursions, snorkeling, etc) and then the money is transferred to you (or via check) so you can spend it on just that!! :) I loved it!

Is there a fee involved with the money transfer?

I didn't want to do it and I will admit that I'm embarrassed to have one. My friend convinced me that she would rather pay for an experience for me than buy me a crock pot. Haha, so for her I have one. We will see if it gets use.

I'm thinking about doing one. We're already homeowners and don't need household items.

Im not sure if Im going to use one or not. I would definitely rather people pay for things involved in our honeymoon than some new towels lol. My problem is that there is some type of fee involved in any site you use. I feel like after paying a 3-10%fee to receive the money, when I go to use it I will have to pay taxes and fees on the honeymoon, its just double takeaway. I would rather receive money in a card but I know its tacky to ask for that.

From my understanding the fees are:

Honeyfund doesnt have a fee for signup.  When people give money, if they have a paypal acct it free to give the money to your paypal. But if they use their credit/debit card there is a 2-3% fee I believe. You can pay it or have the gift giver pay it.

For depositagift and travelers joy the fee is 7%, honeymoonwishes is 10%.

We did! We used honeyfund.com, it was awesome, paid for our whole HM to London and Paris. So much better than getting a bunch of 'stuff' to clutter up the kitchen.

I have two.  I have one for the cruise and one for when we're at Disney.  So far my DOC (who is a co-worker) plans to use one of them.  We are already living together and have two households in one house.  We don't need someone to buy us a toaster or crockpot.  I'm hoping it will be something everyone uses.  We'll find out in a little more than a month when the invitations go out!

This is the BEST thing we ever did! After lots of research and reading thier reviews, we used honeymoonpixie.com and they were great. Our guests just loved the idea! And we recieved 100% of the gift money and we did not have to pay to upgrade to a premium regsitry. You get everything with this company. And it was easy peasy. We were able to get some of our gift money before our wedding to pay for lodging and then we got the balance when we were on our honeymoon. Honeymoon Pixie wired the money directly into our checking account. Very convenient. Our budegt was somewhat limited for our honeymoon. So I'm happy we decided to expereince some really amazing excursions vs more dinner plates. I've never seen my husband so happy... me too :)

We used Travelersjoy.com and I loved it. But since we also had a BBB registry, we only received 2 gifts from TJ. Looking back, I should have chosen one or the other. I was just trying to give people more options.
