Have you gone and tried on engagement rings yet?  If so, were you surprised by what you liked and what you didn't?

Here's my story:

I tried on rings in at least a dozen jewelry stores and in every store I always liked a simple round 1 to 1 1/2 carat diamond solitaire in a white gold setting.  Then when he went with me, I tried one on, and I just knew it wasn't MY ring.  I can't explain it, it just wasn't "the one".  So later I found a Tacori setting online that I absolutely fell in love with.  I had him take me to a jewelry store so I could try one on to make sure it was the one I wanted, and lo and behold.....that wasn't it either!  I still think it's the most beautiful ring I've ever seen, but it just didn't look right on my hand.  So weird!

The good news is that I did find "the one" that day.  As it turns out, I do want a little sparkle around my main stone.  It's weird because I was so sure I didn't.  So anyway, the lady at the jewelry store wrote the info down on her card and gave it to him and he took it home and put it away.  The bad news is that he moved recently.....and lost the card!  So now I have to go back to the store and find it again.  I'm hoping and praying that they still carry the same ring!  Wish me luck!

i'm afraid to try one one, i'd try to wear it out! haha! i want to be completely surprised by his choice for me and what he thinks will look beautiful on my finger forever.

We have been looking for about 2 years now, and I have tried on probably 10-15. I kept going back to the same thing, 1 carat princess cut in a simple white gold band. And that is the one that is waiting for me! :)

I have! I've gone to so many stores with friends and with FI. I found the one I love at Kassab Jewelers. It's gorgeous!

One night FI took me out to dinner and we ended up at Tiffany's to look at rings. That was fun. But I didn't like their rings nearly as much as I like the one from Kassab.  =)  Lucky FI!

I never tried any on but I always stop cold when I walk past a jewelry store and check out the e-rings on display.  I definitely favor the vintagy rings but then again I saw one with a white gold band and yellow gold prings (round cut diamond) that I thought was gorgeous and perfect for me since I have a weird thing about things matching (even jewelry metals....I made myself a sterling silver and yellow gold anklet so that whether I wear silver or yellow gold jewelry, it would always match).

I know...I'm weird....lol

we were at costco yesterday...and while he was looking at new tvs i was looking at their jewelry case :) and i fell in love with one there, and dragged him over to see it, and he said "that'd be beautiful on you, but i'm not buying you a ring from costco!" so i told him he better remember the style so when he's out searching or designing he gets it right!

I know exactly what I want it to look like: 1 carat princess cut with little diamonds around it and a few going down the sides in white gold with the millgrain trim to give it the vintagy look. I found a picture of it awhile back but he refuses to go ring shopping with me bc he wants me to be completely surprised and he says me knowing anything is taking the fun out of it for him. I passed the picture on to my sister and hopefully she will pass it on to him! I'm pretty sure he will go to her for ideas when he's ready.

i know this is an old thread, but i wasnt a member then! lol.  I mentioned to FFI just yesterday that I wanted to go try on rings TOGETHER for 'future reference'.  He told me to email him what I want which I guess means I'll be looking by myself.  But on the bright side at least he didnt say, 'ring? for what?'.  lol, silver lining.

Enamore, your FFI sounds like mine... we actually looked a bit at a store a few weeks ago, but didn't really try anything on (nothing that really grabbed my attention honestly) and he asked me to email him some that I like for 'future reference'

But hey! They're at least not shooting the ring thing down all together :)

I tried on this weekend with the FFI the one he picked out and feel in love with it. I know I will get something beautiful and I will love it no matter what. I should be getting mine here soon the unofficial wedding time line is a year and a half and a want a minimum of a year engagement and with him going to Turkey for a month this summer I'm hoping to have it before that. My birthday is in May so that could be it or at least I hope so!!
