HELP

I need advice...

My fiance and I are having hard time deciding on a time frame for our venue.  Right now there are very few availabilities left.  We have to decide between August or October.  Which would you choose and why?  (to help get an idea of climate we would be having a 5pm reception in New Jersey right on the water across from NYC)

Me: I want August so I dont freeze my buns off in my gown.  I feel the guests will utilize the outside cocktail hour during the day and fire pits at night more because its warmer.

Him: He wants October so he doesnt sweat his buns off in his suit.  He feels they can utilize the indoor cocktail hour area and should dress appropriately for an October wedding if they want to go outside.

Well im from the sweaty south. I wouldnt have a wedding in August here if someone paid me to lol. To me its easier to warm up than cool off. But Jersey im not sure. How cool is it in October? It might just be the happy medium like not too hot or cold?

I'm in NJ and we got married 2 years ago in Central NJ (Woodbridge) on October 10.  We had a 3 p.m. ceremony and it was pretty comfortable at 10 p.m. when we started closing things down and then we headed to NYC for an after party and I didn't wear a jacket at all, only a light sweater (which was my outfit).  I personally would choose October because your gown might be heavy and remember you will have undergarments on and you might be too hot in August.  I remember the last couple of years, August has been pretty hot in our area.

Hope that helps!

How far into October? This is a tough one! I'm not a fan of August.. idk why lol, BUT I am a summer girl through and through, so I think I'd pick that. I also love October, though, and can see the logic in not wanting to be too hot!! It IS extremely hot in a gown and I'm sure it is just as bad in a suit or tux! And it gets really hot in that area too! LOL I'm probably confusing you more. This is tough!!! Good luck picking ;)

I prefer the cold over the heat.  That is my personal preference because people are kind of forced to gather around each other if it is cold and make conversation. lol.  I just would rather not be sweating in the sun if I could help it.  We didn't really have a choice with our location but to have it at the end of July.  It was nice and cool surprisingly.

Oh, that's an awesome time of the year here.  My gut would say October 16th.  : )

That's tough. I personally would pick August because where I live you never know and it could be snowing in October. But if you think the weather would be good in October, that would be good!

haha i chuckled because your options are my absolute least fav month (aug) and my absolute fav month (october!) im in philly, so the climates are pretty much the same. i would much rather be a little chilly, then sweating. we got married this september, and it was so incredibly hot on our day, to the point where even my legs were sweating under my gown. so i would deffinatly go with october. plus, the changing leaves and being on the water will make for a great backdrop! and you have less of a chance for rain in mid october as you do during hurricane season in august (i think the greatest chance of hurricanes are june-sept) so even if you went for august, your chances of still needed to have cocktail hour inside are greater with the rain. october has been getting more and more mild in the past years (other then last years random blizzard) so with comfortably chilly weather and the ability to have fire pits, i think you and your guests would be very comfortable!

Good question!

What time in Oct? In August you will be sure to have warm weather, but it could be super hot. In Oct it could either be beautiful or super cold. In the first week of Oct last year we had 80 degrees, this year we had 40s.

It also depends on what colors you want - you obviously will get better fall colors in Oct. But obviously the colors of your wedding can be anything you want anytime of the year - I just mean background for photos.

Hope that helps a bit!!
