Ladies, I really need your advice. In the last weeks I noticed a severe hair loss! Whenever I take a shower or brush my hair I could cry because so much hair is falling out. its not that I get bald spots, but the overall amount of my hair is the problem. I am quite sure that it is because of stress (75 days till wedding day) but still. Have any of you experienced something similar? What could help me?

I'm so sorry to hear this. Sometimes it is also diet. Maybe your lacking something. I have used Nyoxin shampoo and that helps. Good luck hun!

Stress and diet can certainly cause it, as can new shampoos and other hair products. If you are not losing enough that you have bald spots, and no giant clumps are coming at once (basically if it's just a lot of hair in a given day) I wouldn't worry too much. Make sure you are eating lots of fruits and veggies, drinking lots of water and taking a women's multi vitamin. You might also try a hair strengthener like Fall Fight (Garnier?) or something similar.

If it doesn't clear up after a few weeks of that, I would definitely see your doctor to be safe.

I can relate...  I have thyroid-related hair loss.  It has been going on for months now. My doctors are working on it.  I know how hard this is to deal with and the panic you feel.  Most likely it is stress in your case, and stressing over it won't help. (easy to say, hard to do).  Nioxin products are a great idea, and so is Biotin, and vitamins in general, but seeing your Doctor might be a good idea as well.  Are you on any medications that could cause hair loss? Have you been dieting strenuously?  Those are also potential causes.  The Women's Hair Loss Project is a good website for info, hope and help.  Good luck and feel free to PM me anytime you want to chat about it.

thanks alot ladies! I will definitely try to see a doctor, just to feel better. I already started to take extra supplements and see how that goes. the throid-issue might be a good point too, because I used to have problems with that but it was good. Maybe it broke out again. it just helps to talk about it :-)

The above ladies gave you some great advice! I know it is hard not to when you are so close to your wedding, but try to relax and if you need to, take a couple of days away from wedding planning and come back to it. Please let us know what the doctor says!

I can't say anymore than the other ladies have.  That happened to me when I first went on a lean protein diet-which I am currently still on but in the beginning I was losing a lot of hair.  I take Biotin and it doesn't happen anymore.  Stress and diet are definitely two things that contribute to hair loss like that.

Good luck!
