FI's birthday is Tuesday and I'm making him dinner....

I want to step a little out of my boundaries...  Just a little :)

I was thinking a breaded pork chop with a lemon or apple sauce poured on top.  But... No idea what sauce would be best OR how to make them.

Any suggestions girls?

I'll pair it with some of my famous mashed potatoes and probably corn or green beans....

THANKS!

I want to know too, because an apple sauce sounds good!

Hmmmm, sounds yummy :)

I'm not much help since I've never breaded my chops - but here is what I do in case it sounds good!  I think you could totally do this with breading too. . .

I brown the pork chops on med-high in a lightly oiled pan, and then deglaze the pan with cooking sherry or wine by moving them to the side - it should be hot when the wine hits the pan!  I then add some apple cider and onions (sliced/rings).  Reduce the heat to med-low.  You could probably throw some lemon in there too!  Simmering them in the liquid gets them really juicy.

The sauce should, over time, reduce and thicken.  When the chops are done, remove them from the liquid and keep hot while the sauce continues to reduce. . .add some salt, pepper, thyme. . .drizzle the chops with the reduced/thickened sauce and serve!

YUM

happy early birthday to your fi! :)

as far as the pork chops the only time i've made them was with a raspberry sauce (but i lost the recipe). fi has made breaded pork chops though. preheat the oven to 350. rinse the pork chops and pat them dry (you can season them with salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc. if you want). also heat oil in a skillet over med-high heat. beat a couple eggs in a small bowl, all-purpose flour in another, and bread crumbs (we usually use italian, but you could use whatever style you perfer) in another. cover the chops in flour, dip in the egg, cover with bread crumbs. fry the pork chops in the skillet for a few minutes on each side (the breading should be browned). then put them in a baking dish, cover them with foil, and cook for about an hour.

and i did find a recipe that has a golden apple sauce that looks yummy (personally, though, i would omit the ginger... but that's just because i'm not a big fan of it). if you use that recipe i would just follow the first part, then bread the pork chops and fry them, and then deglaze the pan (and finish the sauce) once you have the pork chops in the oven.

I don't know if a lemon sauce or apple sauce would be better...

Why is this so difficult, lol!
