So my Maid of Honor and I are trying to pick dresses for all of my girls. But the Majority of the dresses she sends me are 200 times flashier then my own dress. How do i politly rein her in and point her in a good direction without hurting her feelings.

Also, my wedding is May 11th at 1 and i have NO IDEA if i should have the girls wear long dresses or short dresses. ANY advice on these 2 issues would be helpfull.

Thanks a Million,

One very stressed and confused Bride to Be,

Tori

I would choose a few dresses and send them to her so that she sees what sort of thing you are thinking off. You could mention that you would like to keep it under $xxx.
With regard to length that really is a personal preference, unless the temperature will sway your choice

I picked my bridemaid dresses myself so I got what i wanted them to wear. I agree with Canooknic pick a few dresses you like and show her.

I ended up picking the dress in the end. I took the girls out, they tried some things on. Of course they all had different opinions. It was actually quiet stress-full trying to accomidate everyones opinion. I took a few into account more than other, like not feeling comfortable with certain cuts. I did my very best and in the end I think everyone looked great. Try to listen to concerns but sometimes you just need to make the call! Let MOH know that you don't think the style she picked matches your dress and show her something you were thinking.

As for long or short, again, it's up to you! May can still be chilly depending on where you live. Long is elegant while short is more fun. What look are you going for!?

I'm sure no feeling will be hurt if you send her a few examples! The Maid of Honor is there to support you! Our Remix is also in the month of May! I've picked a long elegant dress with sleeves! Feel free to look at my bio!

But if you do a colored dress the MOH could wear a different shade of the same color.

What color dress and what price range are you looking at? can you post a picture? Maybe we could help you with ideas. Since your getting married in may I would go with a short dress but thats my opinion. Is your wedding inside or outside? daytime or nightime?

something like this different shades of the same color

I think sending her a few pics of what you have in mind will help her see your vision. Or, like the other girls have said, just give them a couple choices and see what they pick! hehe :)

There is no rule for the length of dress depending on the time of year...that is entirely up to you! I think it's almost easiest to have some of your girls try both long and short on, that will give you a better idea of which you like. I always thought long until I saw them on my girls, then I loved short way better!

I would find some that YOU like and send to your MOH to get her opinion, that will help give her a better idea of what you are going for. If you can't pick just one, find a few that work well together and let each girl pick the style they are most comfortable with from the options you have approved.

It's your day, feel free to make these kind of decisions in a polite way!

I have never picked my dress except when I was the bride. The Bride usually picks both style and color. I would stay away from halters if the girls are big busted, but other than that whatever.

As for length again think about the size of your girls. Larger girls usually prefer longer gowns to cover legs. Tea Length is a great inbetween short and long and is elegant.

My personal opinion is that the short dresses seem like well Birl's night out and not really great for proper weddings, but I am also old fashioned.

These are just my opnions.
