Hi all,

First off, I'm new to the group, please feel free to add me/friend me.

I am getting married indoors (in a church) and my idea for decorating involves/includes stanchions. My problem is all of the stanchions I've seen have two pronged bottoms, how do I get them to stand upright, without drilling into the floor of the cathedrals that is 100's of years old.

I really need help with this, anyone, everyone :)))

Is there any way you could tie them to the pew in the church? Like with a pretty bow or something to hold them up?

Ohhhh or what about buying pots that are big enough to fit the bottom of the hooks and filling the pots with rocks or sand or something??

I am getting married outdoors, but my ceremony is on concrete.  I purchased free standing shepahrds hooks.  PM if you would like more info-they are more expensive then regular shephards hooks, but they look nice.

Will they let you use those 3M Command Strips on the pews??? They also come as HOOKS & CLIPS in various shapes, sizes & materials. They are VERY removable-you just pull on the strip & it comes right off without damaging anything.
I use them all over the house. To hang pictures, I even have one that is nickel that I use as a Hand Towel Holder in my Bathroom.

I dunno, just a thought

You can probably tie each section of fabric that meets at the pew & fasten it to the "command-hook"

I just bought these 55" free-standing Shepard's Hooks from www.koyalwholesale.com to achieve a similar look. I'm hanging chandeliers off of the iron stands for my ceremony aisle.

You could put them in the pots like kdenison said, but instead of rocks or sand, use paster of paris or concrete. They won't ever slouch over that way, and plaster of paris is like dirt cheap.
