are you gals incorporating the holidays in your decor?

i felt bitchy about saying "no" to the super super nice coordinator at church when she asked if we wanted the garlands up for our ceremony...   ***bows head in shame***

it just would not "go"...

Oh d1ryt I know what you mean!!! I feel horrible everytime some says "Oh red's and greens with garland and beautiful christmas tress will just be soooo lovely" and I have to reply..."my colors are actully purple and silver and I'm not having any garland or pine tress". People look at me in shock.

I think holiday decor is great for weddings....just not mine.

If I could have 2 December weddings...my other one would be red, dark green and gold :)

we are giving ornaments from St Jude's as our favors.

I'm getting married on December 13th and my birthday is December 20th. It's my personal crusade to make sure nothing in my wedding has to do with Christmas because I've been lumped into Christmas my whole life! lol My parents really wanted us to have a winter wedding, which is why we went with December. My colors are soft yellow and turquoise, so definitely the opposite of holiday colors. Our venue is putting up white lights for Christmas (I asked in advance), but I'm ok with that because it doesn't scream Christmas or anything. The venue coordinator suggested we do snowflakes for a theme and I (nicely) said no...plus, we're in Florida so it doesn't snow here!

snowflakes in florida?? uuuhh no!  LOL  =)  =)  =)

did you get "combo" gifts?? for both bday and Christmas?

i think winter "themes" are cute - theyre just so not for me...

I did get combo gifts from some people! My immediate family and close friends were careful not to do that because they knew I was sensitive about it, but I used to get Christmas cards from extended family that said "PS. Happy Birthday!".

I agree; I don't think there's anything wrong with a holiday theme, but I wouldn't want it.

We aren't doing the whole 'winter' theme either.

But we are taking advantage of what the season has to offer. We will be having large wreaths on the front door with rustic metal letters in them (A & J). Also, we plan on purchasing those mini ivy tree's that they put out around Christmas. We are going with like a rustic garden theme. And the little ivy trees will be PERFECT!

I had to meet with a TON of different florists because no one really 'got me'. They all kept trying to add red berries into my flowers or use evergreens are the greenery in bouquets. haha. Oh and white roses. I kept saying... No not white xmas roses. I'm talking about creamy/ivory roses... or porcelana roses. Finally I met my match. She totally got the vision. No pinecones for this girl :)

Nanner22, I think some people hear "December wedding" and just get totally stuck on doing a holiday theme. I've had several people say "Oh, you should do snowflakes, holly, red and green and gold, etc" and then when I tell them that actually my colors are yellow and turquoise and not wintery at all, they don't get it. I guess it makes perfect sense to some people, but I just don't want to look back at my wedding and feel like it was just part of Christmas!

I love the idea of the rustic garden theme. I bet it'll be gorgeous!

haha. I told a friend once that it is a December wedding and she squealed, ' i see white flocked chrstmas all over and snowflakes!" and very nicely i said, "uhhh, no christmas decorations. it's red, cream and choclate brown".  She sounded disappointed.
