I don't know if its the pregnancy hormones or what but I just watched the new 16 and Pregnant where the girl gives the baby up for adoption and I am sitting here BAWLING. Like hyperventilating crying. hahahaha.... so sad though! I cannot imagine giving a child up or the joy that would come from holding a child you were adopting for the first time - both of those things seem soooo overwhelming to me!

That episode is SO sad!!!  I give the couple credit though, because they KNEW that they couldn't take care of the baby like it should be taken care of!  They are very mature for their age, that's for sure!!!  I couldn't even imagine holding my child, and then having to give them up--that would be the hardest thing to do!!  I was crying too! ;)

oh man dh and i were pretty emotional through that one. who knew mtv could do that to ya !? we were like dang, those kids are more mature than we are and they're only sixteen. did you know that those kids are still together? they had a follow up on them and they are so cute together. i really hope they last.

Not sure if it's the same couple or not, but they had one couple on there that gave their baby up for adoption and their families were not supportive.  It was so sad that the kids were the only responsible ones in the whole bunch.  I can't imagine giving up a child, but on the other hand, I can't imagine being the family that has every hope depending on someone making that sacrifice.  I don't watch this very often because it's so sad.  I have a friend who's daughter is in this situation (had a baby at 17 and is raising it) and it's very difficult to see in real life too.

Ehhhh...for some reason this episode did nothing for me. Not a single tear.

Those shows ALWAYS get me. Especially since I myself am adopted. I have reconnected with my birth-mom (when I was 16) and they are now part of our extended family. My mom and dad are great friends with them, we do all holidays together, she walked down the aisle as a "mom" at my wedding, etc. We are a TOTAL Oprah story! :)

Anyway, I dont know if I myself would have been strong enough to do the same thing my own birth-monther did (I would like to think I would have been), but I am SOOO grateful she did. We truely believe this is the way life was supposed to happen and that I have the parents I was supposed to have. I have had an AMAZING life because of the difficult sacrafice she made when she was 16/17 years old.

Combes- you have to watch the one that was just one. It was a new adoption one, not the one where the girl and her boyfriend are still together and were acting super mature, this one is a girl that was adopted herself and basically she wanted to keep the baby but her parents were like "we aren't paying for it" and her ex-boyfriend is well, 16/17 and a jerk so she feels pressured into it. It was interesting for me to watch since my MIL gave a baby up for adoption when she was in high school and it was (I hear) very much against her will.... it was a total tear jerker.

I saw it. That was the episode I figured you were talking about. The one last season with the other couple "got" me even more! It was sad to watch that new episode, but I also felt it was the right thing for her to be doing so it didnt get to me quite as much for some reason. Her parents were right, and that boyfriend of hers was a TOTAL JERK! (as usual). I am totally addicted to that show and DVR it every week.

I could not believe her ex-boyfriend right? And while I totally felt like her parents were right it was still really hard watching her break down and feel like she had no options ya know? I just can't imagine feeling like that.....
