HONEYMOON HELP!

Hey ladies, I would like your input. My fiancé and I are getting ready to book a honeymoon. We are looking into an all inclusive in Mexico or Caribbean. Our budget is around $2000-2500.

How much did you spend on your honeymoon with excursions and everything??? We will definitely have the all inclusive part covered, we are just concerned about how much extra we will spend outside of what's included in the AI.

Also, what resort did you choose if you traveled to Cancun or riviera maya?

Thanks so much!!!! :-)

We did an all-inclusive to Ocho Rios, Jamaica for eight days. We ended up booking four excursions: party cruise with snorkeling/climbing the falls, shopping, ziplining/river-tubing, and a dinner cruise. We definitely considered the prices when we booked, and I think we spent about $500-600.

The little things you don't think about can also add up. We paid about $60 in tips (I know you're told not to, but it just felt rude not to leave a dollar or two for a bartender, plus a few dollars for drivers to/from excursions, the maid, waiters for sit-down dinners, etc.) We bought a couple hundred dollars of souvenirs/gifts for family, a $30 phone card (activating our phones would have been $20 per data unit, whatever that is!), two $20 underwater dispoable cameras, books and magazines from the bookstore, etc.

All in all, I'd recommend having about $800 extra to play around with, or else be very conscientious of prices when you're buying things. It's certainly possible to spend less, but if you're like us, you'll be in the "But we're on our honeymoon!" mentality and spend more than you normally would.

Wow this is good to know! We are going to cancun for honeymoon next month. We are staying at an all inclusive too but because of all the wedding planning, I haven't even begin to think about the extras. Thx coldtofire!

Any more ideas!?

We spend about $550 I think on the zip lining and island tour we did (in St Lucia) and another $10 to get in to the national park to hike.  DH also went golfing - which is "included" in the all inclusive - but you have to rent clubs and pay a caddie and I think that ran about another $50.  I went for a massage while he golfed (is that weird for honeymooners??) which was another $100.  We did stay at a Sandals and they ABSOLUTELY DO NOT allowing tipping, except for some reason with the masseuses, which I gave $20 to.  We bought a couple souvenirs too so, in the end, I think FCTF's $800 is right on the money.

We just booked ours at Secrets Moroma Beach in the Riviera Maya. 6 nights AI. It cost $3800, which obviously doesn't include the extras. We are doing a honeymoon registry to help us cover the extras and excursions. Have you thought about doing that?

Yes, it crossed our minds but we are booking at the last minute. We are getting married in June and we are booking in about 2 weeks....so we couldn't do the registry. We didn't think we would be able to take a honeymoon but thanks to my dad, we will get to. But our budget is about $2500.

And we will take about $600-$800 with us for excursions and extras.
