DIY'ing an absurd numbers of lanterns, yes lantern centerpieces. Okay so the pictures aren't fabulous but there's a reason I'm not a photographer for a living! And yes, it was a lot like wedding halloween!!

I used many different doilies, this design was just on top of the stack. Here's the Martha original idea, you'll notice I used colored vellum, I was hoping it would add a little colored glow. But it didn't seem to in experiments, oh well!

Time well spent Champagne! I love the addition of colored vellum! You're a DIY pro...watch out Marth, LOL!

I'm thinking of using vellum to print black & white (or sepia toned) pictures of deceased relatives wrapped around large candle hurricanes. I saw this done somewhere...can't remember where, but it was really pretty the way the pictures glowed from the backlit candles.

Thanks guys, I'm trying to figure out how to keep them anchored - my FI has taken this over because he thinks he can apply physics to it... haha

nicksknack, that would be beautiful. I bought 25 sheet packs of clear vellum for 6.99 from the Hobby Lobby - I haven't found uses for the two packs yet but I bet that would be pretty. Marthastewartcrafts.com has some clear printer vellum too.
