I always thought all the people who said they cleaned their rings every day were obsessive. Now, I am too. Lol!

How often is too often to clean your ring? What kind of damage could I be doing, if any?

no damage that can be done, however you can loose a stone if any of them are loose. Take it to a jeweler at least 2 times a year to check the stones.

As long as you're not cleaning it abbrasively, it shouldn't cause any damage to your ring.

I take mine to get professionally cleaned every 6 months (works out great now-  once before the holidays & once around our anniversary!)  As for at-home cleaning... I usually do that with an old soft toothbrush and some mild cleanser whenever I notice it isn't as sparkly.  Maybe a couple times a week max.

I clean my ring weekly with the solution that my jeweler gave me. I will be taking it in about a month before the wedding.

you cant do any damage to it. don't use anything hokey like toothpaste baking soda or anything like that. we use Mr clean and warm water in our ultrasonic at the shop and also a steam cleaner. what metal is your ring and what gems are in it?

My ring is 18K white gold and I guess the gems are diamonds...I heard somewhere that it's safe to use toothpaste.

all i use is warm (not even soapy) water and a baby toothbrush...works great...then i have it cleaned and checked at the jewelers 2x's a year...insurance requires it as well.

I loosened my stone :( now its at the jewelers and I'm naked :(  I wash it with a soft tooth brush warm water sometimes a little soap every couple of days but I put in my little jewelry cleaner (from linens n things $15) once a week or every few weeks.  I take it in to the jeweler to get cleaned 2 times a year.

its safe i guess but it is kinda gummy and if you dont manage to get it all out, it can attract more dirt and oil making it dirtier than they were in the begining!

Hongd33 wear it and enjoy it!

i keep hearing about 2x's a year, your girls musta got your rings from Gordons, Zales, or Baileys. thats pretty standard timing for Diamond warrantys. its good to keep up on that. you get them replaced for free if the diamonds fall out and youve been consistant in getting the rings checked.
