Although there are a lot of ladies going natural, I choose to keep my hair relaxed.  I believe you can have healthy relaxed hair.  However, my stylist and I sometimes disagree about how often hair should be relaxed.  I know it varies some based on the texture or grade of your hair, but what are the signs that you relaxed ladies use to tell it's time  for a touch up?  How soon is too soon?

I was told 10-12 weeks is recommended however when my new-growths start growing in I get a lot of breakage so to prevent too much breakage I tend to relax my hair at 8-9 weeks.

I think every 4 weeks is too soon but everyone is different.

i recently got a shorter haircut. i relax my hair every 3 weeks because my hair is a bit coarse and very thick. so i need for it to stay smooth or im gonna look like a sheep's butt lol.

when my hair was longer though, i relaxed it every 6weeks. how i used to tell when it was time was by running my fingers through my hair and feeling for new growth. also, my edges get really kinky so that was another sign that it was time to relax it.

everyone has different issues. i know ppl who if they go just 1 or 2 weeks past their usual time the hair breaks off, so even if they wanted to wait they couldn't. then some can go months before that decide to. but too soon after the last one causes overprocessing
