What big things have you already crossed off your list?

What has been the hardest part of planning so far?

We have crossed SO much off the list - we are still looking for a videographer, officiant and can't book the ceremony site more than 6 months in advance. THAT has been the hardest part - waiting for the 6 month mark AND keeping our guest count in check.  It's way bigger than originally had planned

The hardest part of the planning has been the guestlist and FI.  The guestlist is too big.  FI has no interest in planning.  So I gave him the job of planning the honeymoon.

Due to the 15% pay cut we both are taking, I have to watch what I spend.  With the 3rd furlough day, I had to reduce the flower budget.  So... I'm DIY-ing the ceremony flowers, bouquets, centerpieces.  Some people don't agree with me doing artificial flowers but, whatever, I get to keep them forever!  :)  Before the furloughs, I secured the photog and cake, so that is not being cut.

So far so good.  For a while, I was experiencing a little planning burn out.  I had no motivation for anything.  Now, I'd say that I'm slowly getting back on the planning wagon.  :)

We have A LOT done, we are just up in the air about our caterer, we cannot decide between two really good ones. So we made appointments to have a tasting at both so we can go ahead and mark that off the list. We have secured all the major items like the photog, cake, venue, officient, florist, lighting, DOC & transportation. I have made the STD's and they are ready to be mailed.

I am currently working on our invites and cake topper. Happy planning everyone!

So far I have a venue, DJ, photographer, and caterer.  I've also bought my dress and I've almost chosen BM dresses.  We're working on finding a cake baker right now.  I've already sent out STDs and I'm DIYing our invitations right now.

I pretty much have everything done except my photographer and transportation. I have a wedding party of 20 so we need a bus:)~ Oh and I have to book an organist for the ceremony.

In the last few months I've gotten alot done.  Currently, I am making appointments for cake testing.  I need to find a string quartet and someone for vials.  Has anyone used Crown and Glory?  I'm curious about her pricing.

The biggest challenge I have is my mom.  She has been a royal pain! That's being nice.  She wants to control everything and thinks she knows exactly what I and FI want. Anyway...nothing to vent about at the current moment. :)

I've ordered my dress, which should be shipped to the salon on December 15th.  We have the church/reception hall booked.  It's in Korea, and I don't think I'll need to do much planning outside of my dress and own personal look.  And possibly a photographer.  I am a photographer myself, and how do I find one I love all the way over there while I'm in Michigan?  I don't want just anyone taking pictures.  I want amazingness.

I don't know what the food is going to be like, the flowers, or even if we'll have a wedding cake.  There will be hundreds and hundreds of guests I know, and we're doing an American/Korean style wedding first (which is common there) and then a private traditional wedding, for only immediate family members.  I will wear a hanbok, a traditional Korean dress, and there will be a lot of bowing and tea drinking.  I am going to be fitted for that dress when I get there, about a month ahead of time.  Then after the traditional ceremony is the reception, where the bride usually changes into yet another dress.  I want to wear my wedding dress though.  I think I insist, since I'm spending all this money on it.

The biggest part of the planning is the visa/green card hassle, since he is a Korean citizen. (We met while he was studying here in the states.)

It's going to be crazy!  But it will be a once in a lifetime experience.  :)

So far we have booked our ceremony/reception venue, violinist, caterer, photographer, officient, and florist. I also bought my wedding dress and had it altered and got my jewelry.... picked out bridesmaids dresses. I think thats all the big things. I started a couple diy projects and I STILL need to do my save the dates! Ah!

The hardest part was finding the venue. We both wanted an outdoor ceremony and we have only a few venues that do that around where we live. 2 of them are for really small ceremonies and the other one we actually booked and had a huge ordeal with them! The lady said she wanted to leave the contract open which is wrong and I can't trust someone who says they want to do that, she raised food prices, changed the menu, and she was extremely forgetfull! Luckily we got our deposit back and we found a wonderful place which is a little bit country for my taste but I think it will be perfect after decorations are put up!

Anyway I better go before I blab on for too long. I am so happy I found this group!
