DH and I decided months ago that we were going to replace the carpet in the dining room with darker carpeting and choose it together. His son came up with the idea to have a small, intimate and surprise dinner gathering for DH's parents 50th anniversary at our house, tomorrow. DH comes up with the bright idea to go pick out carpeting Tuesday while I was at my second job and have it installed before Saturday. I am slightly irritated because we agreed to pick it out together and he says they didn't have the darker color we had chosen. Everytime we have a family function or any kind of gathering at our house, DH obsesses about showing the house to guest and getting things for the house. He finally picks out a caramel carpeting and then says he is headed to IKEA. There is only one Ikea in Michigan and it is Canton and that is probably almost an hour drive from where we live. I ask him why was he going to Ikea and he says to get throw rugs. That is also something he always does when we have a family gathering. DH scheduled to have the carpet installed yesterday, but accepted overtime from his job and the deep freezer did not get repaired Tuesday, because he totally forgot about the appointment running around picking out carpeting and going to IKEA. He has his niece let in the guy to do carpeting and his 76 year old father helped the guy move our huge Italian Hutch. When I got home yesterday from my second job, the house is in shambles, the glass on one of the doors is broken because they dropped it and half of the balls on the chandelier fell off, I assume the hutch fell into it? So DH is pissed off because the glass is broken, the house is in disarray and the party is tomorrow. Had he not rushed to have the carpet installed because for a total of 12 guest, he wouldn't have to fork out more money to get the hutch fixed!

Not a good picture, but that is the hutch that has to be repaired

And this is the chandelier that I have to hang half of the balls back on

Hey Elise! Thanks for asking. It actually turned out very nice and they were so surprised. I had to go to the base to drill for a couple of hours, so I wasn't there when it initially started. The food was not very good. Lol. I love my stepson but he really should not have tried new spices on some of the food! The glass on the hutch is still not fixed but I hung up the missing balls.
