Hello! My husband and I are doing a vow renewal next spring. I plan to wear a formal gown (not sure if I want a wedding dress, but definitely want a floor length, fancy dress) and put my daughters in bridesmaid-type dresses. The problem is my husband would love to NOT wear a suit & jacket. He will if we can't find a suitable alternative, but I told him I'd look around for ideas. I'm not having a lot of luck, though.

Anybody out there have some ideas or pics they'd like to share of alternatives to a suit?

FI is wearing a linen shirt & pants, our little boys are wearing the same shirts but with linen shorts instead of full length pants.

My brother is getting married the weekend after me and is planning on wearing a shirt, pants and a waistcoat - kind of like Simon Baker in The Mentalist - he'll look awesome!!

What about a vest, buttondown, and slacks?

Or he could do slacks and a button-down (with suspenders or a tie):

Thanks for the photos and suggestions everybody! You guys are great! :)

What my husband would like is the loose shirts the guy with flip flops are wearing. Even though I like that look, I think it wouldn't go with the rest of the wedding. Our venue is going to have a courtyard theme and I think the loose shirt with slacks looks more beachy. I'd love to run into a loose shirt look that isn't so beachy.

I love the Simon Baker look, but I don't think the hubby does. He's more Redneck than English Gentleman. LOL The jeans with a vest is kind of neat! Anybody want to weigh in on if that would go with my two daughters and I being dressed formally and the courtyard theme?

I love the idea of the vests! Still classy but a bit more relaxed!

Could he wear jeans and just really dress up the shirt and tie?  Vest or no vest?

I think it's worth playing around with as far as looks goes.  You have time to figure it out and you will.  Keep looking and something suitable will come up.

Why not go with a downplayed western feel?  He could wear the vest and a nice pair of dress jeans that fit really well.  Get a nice pair of black dress boots.  That would be sharp!  Think Tim McGraw.   ;)

The vests would be perfect.
