did you plan on making a christmas dinner for him or just a small dinner? what does he like?

jonnie..if u can read u can cook. I was 20 when I learned how. I'd like to think Im pretty good at it now!

most things are cooked at 350.

if your cooking meat cover it to make sure that its juices stay in.

u know its done if it doesn't bleed.

I suggest making baked chicken/corn/rice/bread. For your first meal.

Does he like baked chicken?

make sure when u take the chicken out of the pack u rinse it pat it dry season it and let it sit in the fridge for like 20 mins.

I know the first meal I cooked my mom walked me through it on the phone..

Baked chicken is a good way to start. Shake 'n bake is cheap and easy-and good! Especially if you add a little bit of grated parmesan cheese to the mix = ) There have been lots of easy but yummy recipies on the boards here, I'll be back with some in a few = )

Niecy's DH's potatoes

Potatoes my husband makes :)

dice potatoes and throw in a baking pan with chopped onion

season them to death with salt pepper and garlic powder :)

drizzle a generous amount of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) over potatoes and mix  it up

Bake at 350 with the pan covered in foil for about 30 minutes or until potatoes are soft ... then bake with foil off until nice and brown

Niecy's famous chili

Ingredients

1/2 to 1 lb of bacon

2 lbs of ground beef

2 packets of McCormick (or other brand) chili seasoning

1 large onion  chopped

2 bell peppers (I prefer a yellow and a red)  chopped

2 cans diced tomatoes (I prefer the Hunt's Fire roasted )

1 can red kidney beans

1 can light colored kidney beans

1 can of "chili beans"  (if you can't find this just use another can of kidney)

1 to 2 cans of plain tomato sauce (I like thick chili so I use 1 can but if you like it soupier use more)

Directions

Fry bacon

Drain MOST of the grease but leave enough to coat the pan , throw in the chopped peppers saute for a few minutes , then add onions , saute a few more minutes until soft, add in ground beef , season with garlic powder , salt and pepper to taste, and then  1/2 a packet of chili seasoning and cook through .

Add ground beef mixture and all other ingredients including the bacon crumbled up or broken in to small pieces  to a large pot or crock pot .... simmer on stove top on low for an hour  or in a crockpot on low for 3 hours ....serve with sour cream , shredded cheese , Italian Bread and/or saltine crackers  and ENJOY

and here is an entire thread of easy recipies

Here's another really easy recipe

Poppyseed chicken casserole

Ingredients

4 chicken breasts

8 oz sour cream

1 can cream of chicken

half sleeve ritz crackers

1/4 cup butter (melted)

poppyseeds to sprinkle

Directions

Preheat oven to 350

Boil the chicken until it is no longer pink in the center

Let it cool, then shred into small pieces

Mix the shredded chicken, sour cream, and cream of chicken together, and pour it into your baking dish.

Crush the ritz crackers, and spread it on top of the chicken mixture.

Drizzle the butter on top, and sprinkle the poppyseeds.

Bake for 30 mins.

Sometimes I boil the chicken and shread it the night before, so that it will be a super quick dinner when I get home from work.

steak's not hard to make. when making the steak just cook it for however long it takes to reach the done-ness you want (rare to well done). go here for how the steak should look depending on the level of done-ness you want, and what the temperature should be if you want to be precise.

try this recipe. (just cut the ingredients in half for the two of you.)

and serve with twice-baked potatoes (or niecy's dh's potatoes):
• 2 large potatoes (baking or whichever kind you two like)
• 1/4 cup sour cream (if you like adding sour cream in homemade mashed potatoes. if not you don't need to use it)
• 1/4 cup milk
• 1/2 to 1 tablespoons butter
• salt and pepper to taste
• 1/2 to 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (depending on how much you like cheese)
clean and pierce potatoes with a fork. cook the potatoes in a preheated 350 degree oven for about an hour (should be soft and firm). when they’re done let them cool for about five minutes, then slice them in half (lengthwise). scoop out the insides (not all of it, though; leave a little ridge with the skin) into a bowl, mash it and then add sour cream, milk, butter, salt, and pepper (you're basically making mashed potatoes so just add however much of the ingredients as you would for mashed potatoes and/or whatever you like/don't like). spoon the mixture back into the skins, top with cheese and bake for about 10-15 minutes.

and if you want to try chicken you can try the recipe i posted for the weekly food recipe (here). ;)
