DH and I went to visit his parents the other day, and his mom was asking us about the "group" pictures that we took with each table. She them proceeds to tell us we need to send pictures to everyone in the picture.

  • DH responds " Why? I never got one when I went to weddings."
  • MIL " You have to."

Of course I'm saying nothing. MIL then asks when we got to see the pictures because she has yet to see them. I told her they are viewable online. She then proceeds to say that we need to send pictures to the people at the tables, and that the sponsors want a book of all the pictures. UM, excuse me?!

ME: We were going to send them a picture of us and them together. If they want more pictures they are going to have to order it, and pay for it themselves.

MIL: Well they were your sponsors, you guys need to send them they book.

ME: I understand that they were they sponsors. WE are getting the book, not them. If they or you want one you have to pay for it- END OF STORY. I got up and told DH we had to leave.

Needless to say I was livid!

wow. I have never received a picture from a wedding except when I was a BM and it was a x-mas gift. I would just tell her she can order and send them if that is how she feels, but you guys did not budget for that and I'm sure the sponsors would not want to pay more to you guys to choose pictures and send it to them when they can use the same money to pick and choose the pictures they want/like.

I like the response the son gave to his mother.....I don't think there is an OBLIGATION to send picture to everyone went to the wedding, that's why you bring your camera and take pictures.  If you want professional pictures then pay for it.

Question do they pay for the photographer???

Does your photog release his photos or do you have to purchase through him? If he releases them dh and I had albums made online through mypublisher.com and gave one to our parents and grandparents for Christmas. They all really loved them and with all the coupons we were able to purchase quite a few of them for fairly cheap over a few months. Maybe you could do a little something like that for them as a thank you for their part in your wedding.
