Aw sweetie I'm soo sorry for that!

As the other girls said, DIY is the way!

I here a lot of people say that for financial reasons..thats why I happy for the tradition here for the guests to give money gifts on weddings (maybe something to incorporate in American weddings? I have no idea if that happens in America)

So sorry to hear this!! Just do what is best for you and FI, and the girls are right on...this will give you more time to save. We are here if you need any DiY tips! Good luck, and sending positive vibes to you!

We are doing a small ceremony (our parents, my grandparents, our sisters, and my boys.... 15 ppl total I think lol) then dinner at Olive Garden and my friend is taking pictures for us. Then we are doing a reception/renewal on our one year anniversary with everyone! Its the getting married that is important, the marriage is what counts, not the wedding! :) Good Luck Hun!!!

THANKS LADIES FOR THE POSITIVE SUPPORT AND IDEAS!!!  :D

We are looking to move right now and we also have to replace most of our belongings because of Hurricane Sandy and I have just been so frustrated lately with money!  We are not rich by any means but we do have good jobs and above average salaries but lately it seems like it's never enough. I have no idea how some people support their families who make minimum wage.  :(

I am fine with having a very small wedding or eloping. My FH is fine with either option too but he was getting upset because I was upset. And he didn't want me to not have a nice wedding and then regret it. We talked about it over the weekend and now I feel a lot better.

@tallflbride- I think that your wedding plans sound lovely!  :)

@halloween we lost all of our wedding photos and kids baby photos to a flood. I am so sorry you lost everything we only lost what was in our basement as we were just moving in still. That is terrible.

I wish you the best in the rebuilding of your lives. If I can help with something let me know via pm and I will do my best. Do you need gifts cards or clothes? I try and help people when I can even if it is just little things!

For fear of oversimplifying, ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE.

I feel for you (we had to postpone our wedding by a year, too!), but all that matters is celebrating the love you and FI have for one another - I TRULY believe this!!!  No matter how big or small, that's what it all comes down to!  Best of luck, girl - we're all for you!!!

@Santosha - Thank you.  :)

@IdoAgain20- We lost everything that was in our basement level apartment due to ground water flooding that happened after the hurricane but it was caused from the hurricane. Our renter's insurance policy doesn't cover ground water flooding so we were out of luck there. I have been replacing things but it is a slow go sometimes due to the economy so that has been really frustrating to me at times. I feel foolish when I feel that way though and I keep focusing on the bright side.

We stayed with family during the storm and I took all of the photo albums with me in a giant plastic tub. I am so thankful that I did!!! I know how precious pictures can be. You must have been heartbroken to loose them.  :(

I have been stalking craigslist and freecycle and garage sales like a crazy woman! And I've been blessed to find some great things!  :)

I got two dressers for free. They were a little shabby but some white paint perked them up a lot.  We replaced our clothes and toys for the kids. We bought a tv that was on clearance. It was not a priority to me but the price was too good to let it pass.  My mom found us a kitchen table at a garage sale for free! It was really late in the day and the owner just wanted to get rid of it. I'm going to paint the chairs when the weather warms up because they could use some TLC but we really are doing pretty well in replacing things. They are not the same quality things that we had originally but heck they're just stuff.  :)

Some people are so very bad off right now. I could cry just thinking about it. My family is part of the luckier crowd. We don't have to stay in a house that is mold infested or sleep in shelters. I truly appreciate your very generous offer!  That is very sweet and kind of you! We are re-building our home and filling our lives with the things that make us comfortable and happy and we're getting there. It's not happening overnight but it's still happening!  :)

I actually feel really silly now about getting so frustrated over the wedding plans. Thanks for letting me vent ladies!  :)
