This is the recipe I have always stood by for brownies, it's the first brownie recipe I learned as a child and I still remember it by heart:
6 ounces of semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate<--bittersweet is better
1/2 cup of butter(salted is okay) if you're not using salted just add 1/2 tsp of salt
3/4 cups of brown sugar
3/4 cups of confectioners sugar(white sugar)
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1 cup of semisween chocolate chips
1 cup of chopped nuts(optional)
Melt chocolate and butter together over stovetop until thoroughly blended. You can use microwave too, just stop every 15 seconds to stirr until creamy and blended consistency is reached. Set aside.
Combine eggs, both sugars, and vanilla together and blend until light and fluffy. Don't overmix.
Add your chocolate mixture to your egg mixture and blend throughly. Add your cup of flour.
Add your nuts and chocolate chips.
Bake in 13 x 9 inch standard pan for 35 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Remove from oven and let sit until completely cooled.
This brownie recipe is sweet. It is not very dark. But it is very flavorful.
