So 1 week after we get back from our honeymoon, we have to move into our new place. We can't pack up the whole house before the wedding, because people will be staying with us and we are having the rehearsal dinner at our house. So we have to wait to do the packing till after the honeymoon.

Has anyone done this? Or are you planning to? How did you pull it off? I am afraid it will be a lot of stress, but definately worth it in the end. Any tips on moving right after your wedding?

Thanks!

We are going next friday to put our deposit down! We are moving june 1st!!! We aren't ones for waiting lol we loved the place and definately don't want to miss out. And if we put our deposit down now it will lock in current pricing. She let us know as of april they are going up 50-100 dollars a month

Oh my goodness!  Congratulations and good luck, first of all.  I am not doing this, but I have a lot of experience with moving.  I would do all the prep work you can.  Get all the boxes you need since those can take awhile to collect.  Then make some labels that state each room that boxes may need to go to (Bedroom 1, Master bedroom, dining room, etc.)  That way, when you do pack, you just slap on a label and move the box out of the way.

Can you not pack anything before the wedding?  I'd say that linens you don't need, throw pillows, wrapping paper, anything random, you could pack up early.

Also, collect extra newspaper, bubble wrap, and packing tape so it's all on hand right after you get back.

Don't forget your change of address through the P.O. too.

We have moved twice. But never with only one week to pack. Thanks for the tips! We can pack some stuff. Clothing that we aren't taking with us on the honeymoon, upstairs decor in our bedroom, random stuff, and everything in storage. But I kinda want my house to still look good when family comes lol

I realized that you don't want a lot of boxes around since your rehearsal dinner will be there, but do you have a spare room or corner where things won't be seen?  Otherwise, if you can't pack early at all, then I'd definitely just prep all the packing stuff as early as possible so you can throw it all in boxes swiftly.

OMG!!!  hearts, we are.  ahhh!!!! we get back from the honeymoon, have one week, then BOOM!  bla....it's going to suck.  the new place is so necessary though, because FI works from home.  right now our place is only 800 sq. ft. with a tiny nook office.

we don't have people staying at our place before the wedding, so we are getting  a lot done beforehand.  but honestly, we are paying some people this time.  moving was horrid last time to the 3rd floor, so this time we are hiring people for 3 hours.  i think it will be worth the $300 for our sanity....

good luck!

Sorry, you responded so fast that my last post seems so silly.  I totally understand that you want your house to look nice for all the guests.  Good luck with all that!  Recruit friends and fam if you can.

Ya last time we moved we didn't have anything we went from a 1 bed apartment to a 3 bed house. It was easy. We will be calling in the family on this one for sure I also want to squeeze a garage sale somewhere in may to get rid of a lot of junk that I don't want us to bring to the apartment but that's insanity. May 2nd is our bachelor/ette party the next weeked is our godsons bday that Im planning, then our wedding!! then the honeymoon and the moving! Its going to go by so fast I can't believe we are moving!! OMG... lol

I moved from CA to WI the day after I got back from the honeymoon. Packing your entire life around a wedding is pretty insane. I had 4 days between the wedding and the honeymoon to pack. My situation is a little different since I was moving to where my DH was. I didn't have to pack any furniture, just my belongings. Since my wedding was in the summer, I packed all my winter stuff in boxes already. Anything that wasn't clothes (e.g. albums, picture frames, most towels, blankets) I packed before the wedding. It was like survival mode, which is crazy because you pack everything that is non-wedding related, so your entire house just looks like wedding central. It can be done! If you have a week, it's totally doable!
