Is last-minute better??

My fiance and I just bought a house so we are definitely on a budget. For the honeymoon we were thinking about taking a cruise to Mexico- just something affordable & fun for hopefully 5 days or more. It seems like ALL of the good deals are only found one or two months in advance though! I am a big planner so I hate doing things last minute, but in this case it seems like the only way to go.

Has anyone else found this to be true? Is it worth it to wait? I figure if worse comes to worst and we don't find anything, we can always just go to the coast for a week. It's easy to find good hotel rates for cute coastal b&bs

I think it depend on where you are going and the season. There are some vacation spots that get really book so advance planning is a must.

Have you tried contacting a travel agent? Costco have good travel deals or if you have a family member who owns timeshare...

Our wedding is June 28th, so we were hoping to leave on the 30th or early in July. Maybe THAT is my problem! (busy season and all) I have looked at Costco travel, and all of their deals seem to be up until May or so. I guess I will just have to keep looking, and if all else fails we'll spend some time up on the north coast. Not a bad option :)

If you can be flexible with dates and exact location; then I think waiting will be better.

The tough thing is your timing because you want a summer honeymoon when travel is busier. there's a chance that a great deal could spring up sooner rather than later, so just keep searching.

Our wedding s late August. We are leaving for Paris in Ocober because the rates are a bit better since it is the off season.

MrsTongToBe - I haven't done cruise. But a friend did last June 2007. They did a Mexico Cruise. You can contact her. She's a travel agent Vicky (818)388 4864.

Maybe she can give you some direction. They are actually planning a European cruise right now and they got a good deal. FI and I would love to go but we're on a tight budget. It would be about 2K for a 2 week cruise including flight from LA to Spain.
