I had back to back IUI's and I think it was worth it...well, I don't know any different but it worked. :)  I did the trigger shot and then did the first IUI 24 hours later.  Then the second IUI was 24 hours after that one (48 hours after the trigger).  I know when I went in for the first IUI based on u/s that I hadn't ovulated yet.  But when I went in for the seond one, I had.  So I O'd smack in the middle of the two IUI's (basically about 36 hours after the trigger.  I think the sperm from the first IUI were probably hanging out waiting for the eggs to release and the eggs were still alive and vialbe for the sperm to meet from the second one.  If I had only done one IUI, I think they are typically done 36 hours after the trigger so you have to hope that you O on time and that things line up.  I know it works for some people but I honestly think B2B helped in my case.

I had 2 cycles of unsuccessful singles...both with FSH injections and trigger shots followed by progesterone until betas tested negative....

But I do know couples who've gotten pregnant from single IUI's.

That all happened in TX...then we moved back to CA, and bye-bye fertility coverage!! :(. The TX RE didn't do b2b's for some reason....and yeah, they repeatedly told us that the chances of conceiving thru IUI was the same as intercourse.....

Since then, we've gotten pregnant somehow 3 times in our own...first was a blighted ovum (empty sac) at 6 weeks, the next one tested positive for Down Syndrome at 11 weeks, and the 3rd was basically a chemical. We're at the end of our rope...

It's truly devastating. :(

We are considering adoption...costs are similar to IVF...but at least you know you'd end up with a baby...not a failed IVF cycle.... We actually got into a study for a free cycle of IVF thru the dr I referred Michelle to...but then we ended up with pregnancy #2 and had to withdraw from the study...then it was closed by the time we found out the bad news...Now I would not consider IVF unless we got a donor egg....And win the lottery....

The egg is viable for up to 24 hours after ovulation so if an IUI takes place 12 hours later, placing the sperm right at the entrance of the tubes (which mine did) then it's totally possible.  I had five mature follicles and all released.  Thank GOD no more than two took!! :)  I believe Jady conceived via a Clomid IUI...all you need is one good follicle and one good sperm to meet up.  I personally think that IUI was our solution because I don't think DH's sperm were really getting anywhere much past my cervix (I produce almost zero CM).  So if they don't have that long, dangerous journey to make, then they have more of a chance.  Our RE told us that IUI only had like a less than 10% chance of working (less than intercourse - which made no sense to me) and that IVF was the way to go if we wanted a higher success rate (of course he said that...it's what he specializes in).  But we weren't ready for that.  Well, 13 cycles of well timed sex never worked but one cycle of IUI did so.....
