I know that we all have this issue so I will start out and you all can add on if you like.

I am a sub for a county in VA. This is my only Job because I am getting my masters in early education. This is my only form of income and I was doing really good, I was getting called everyday, I was having a great time being a sub. So this week I had already been pre called for Monday and Tuesday which was great. Well on Wednesday I didn't get a call a little weird but kinda nice to be able to catch up on things. Then Thursday rolls around and I again didn't get a call. I started getting a little worried cause this is going to cause a big hole in my pay check. So today rolls around and again no call so now I am freaking out a little. Next week only Monday and Tuesday they go to school and I am not even sure I will get called. With how the pay checks go this two week pay period I am in now is the last one before Christmas. If I don't get Monday and Tuesday then I am going to be in some big trouble with bills. I knew from the start I was taking a risk but because how good things were going I thought that it would be fine without a second job. Hopefully things will pick up after Thanksgiving and then everything will be fine. I guess I am just worried that I did something wrong and that is why they are not calling me. My FI is trying to convince me that because its close to Thanksgiving the teachers are trying to be at school and I should listen to him.

Thanks for listening ladies!! And just to be clear I am not complaining about having a job or anything I am very very thankful that I have one!! I am just nervous and I know a lot of you ladies are about money situations!

Aw Jclose . . .subbing is hard because it really is such a crapshoot.

I think your hubby is totally right though - it's VERY likely that the teachers are really just trying to go to work because they don't want their checks docked either this close to the holidays.  Not only that, it seems the worst of the swine flu is over and people are back working again.

Are you crafty at all?  What about making some pillows or offering to help brides with their DIY stationary (print and assemble) on etsy.com

You could also clean a house or two for people getting ready for Thanskgiving!

Don't stress - just keep an eye on your bank account.  :)

... it will all work out - it always does...

if you believe in God, i mean TRULY believe - not just a cafeteria christian or someone who talks about praying b/c it "sounds good" - then Let Go and Let God

you cannot control the economy, so why worry about it kwim?  there really is very little that we can control - our resilience and reactions to situations are 2 of those

i got laid off in july - went from 6 figures to measely $1900 a month on unemployemnt... this is part of the reason why we eloped b/c we couldnt afford $600 for cobra... so trust me - i know what it is to lose so so so much money...   i am hugely grateful for my unempl bennies -- hello i paid into it - so i cannot complain that much - but still, i've had to downgrade my lifestyle tremendously... which has had both positive and negative results... i've learned i can live on less - do i really want to is an entirely other topic! LOL!

i'm just glad i paid cash for my car so i dont have a car payment in addition to all the other liabilities we have...

have you hit up the local department stores for seasonal work?
