Anyone having a Jr. Bridesmaid in their wedding and, if so, what dress is she wearing?

My FI's daughter will be my Jr. BM and will be 11 when we get married (and will probably be about 5' feet tall by that time, she's growing like a weed!).

The dress my BMs are wearing is too old for her to wear. I was thinking of having her wear a regular scoop neck bodice with a bell-type skirt (my mom has offered to make the dress) that will come just above her shoes (ballet flats with rhinestone shoe clips). Im just curious if this seems too young of a style for her? I don't want her to feel like she is wearing a "little girl" dress, I want her to feel like she is "one of the girls" but she still needs to have an age-appropriate dress. A lot of the Jr. BM dresses Ive seen don't really have any style...in my opinion.

Any suggestions?

I don't think it's necessarily too young. It kind of depends on HER, you know? Some 11 yr olds are very young and some more sophisticated. I live in LA and once went to a Bat Mitvah and the girls were wearing Marc Jacobs.... Yikes. Can you involve her in the decision? Maybe a variation of the Brides Maid dress?

I asked her and she is pretty much agreeable to anything. She is a little bit tom-boy so, she is not too into all the frills and such. When I asked her if she wanted to wear heals or flats, it was an immediate FLATS! I said ballet slippers? And she said, cool ;) So, she is pretty easy going, but who knows how she will feel in another couple of months, you know? Hormonal pre-teens, ha ha ha. So that is why I kinda want a middle of the road type dress and was curious to see what other PW ladies are doing for their Jr. BMs :)

Hi Kohler, I'm having a few jr bridesmaids. My BMs will be wearing strapless blue tea-length dresses with a silver sash, and I'm hoping to have (haven't seen the sketches yet) the jr BMs wear similar dresses but with spaghetti straps. I've asked all the girls - BMs & Jr BMs - to wear any shoes that makes them feel comfortable. HTH!

My Jr. BM will have just turned 14 by the wedding date, so my advice might skew a little older. I haven't picked out the dresses yet, but I'm going to try to have the same dress for the jr. and regular bridesmaids. I hate the jr bridesmaid dresses I've seen--I agree they have no style. I definitely want her in a knee-length dress, and the vision I have for the other bridesmaid dresses is knee-length a-line. My jr is a size 16 girls right now, so I'm hopeful that she'll fit into a size 0 BM dress. The only concern I have is with the bodice--my dress is strapless so I'm wondering if it would look out of place to have straps on the bridesmaid dresses.

I'm having one junior bridesmaid. She is only 14 years old but she already has an adult figure. Since she looks a bit mature for her age I got her the same dress as my bridesmaids but I'm thinking about having her get it altered in a knee-length. This way she will somewhat stand out but be apart of the group. You can see the photo on my bio.
Hope that helps & good luck.

My Jr. Bridesmaid is 13. She'll be wearing a david's bridal dress: http://davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_detail.jsp?stid=3362&prodgroup=86. One problem my cousin ran into is that one of the jr. BMs was too big for the junior version and both jr. BMs had to get a bridesmaid dress.

If I could have my Jr. BM (or rather my 2b step-daughter :)) wear the same dress as my BMs, I would, it would make things much easier, however, my BM dress has quite a low neckline which is not appropriate for her. (PIB)

Additionally, my BM dress does not really look like a traditional BM dress so finding something in a Jr. size that is similar has been difficult. That is why I've thinking that maybe I will just have her in something completely different, yet still complimentary. I want something classic, with either a scoop or boat neckline possibly and I love a fuller skirt. Possibly in dupioni silk? Im looking at a couple on this website: http://www.little-flowers.com/Collections/JrMaids_Main.htm

Your suggestions are definitely helping me though, so keep 'em comin'! ;)

My Jr. Bridemaid is wearing the same dress now since we found a dress that everyone looks nice in, its a simple black dress with a V neck line, and tea- cup length around the knees.

BUT before we had a different dress, and it was too much for her age and body type so we were going to alter it OR buy a dress similiar but more for her (like same material, color, etc.) Our other thought was to put her in colors somewhere between the FG and BM?

I think the Deessy collection has a lot of dresses that could go on a younger girl- she was so cute in sooooo many of them!

ohhh and I don't mean to steal the thread, but my question is- are you having your Jr. BM stand, or will yours be seated for the ceremony???

Were in a tight location so I would like her seated but wasn't sure if that was okay? My nephew in an Usher so I can have them walk down together and just sit in the front row when the ceremonys starting before the parents walk???

Any opinions???
