What are you gals doing with your last names?

I had a bout of feminism where I was all: "Ain't no way I'm getting rid of my maiden name."

But then I got a bout of sappy, lovey-doveyness and am thinking of adding FI's last name.

The dilemma: I don't want to hyphenate, but do TWO Asian names sound weird? I know I shouldn't care, but I'd like to poll the PW populace just in case.

Imagine the following (not mine, but you get the idea)

Anne Wu Zhang:
1) Yay?
2) Nay?
3) Who the heck cares if you want to do it?

haha :o) You always make me smile :o) I say Nay. It's definitely up to you though :o) I'm hyphenating my last name because no one will carry our last name. No boys in the family. Let us know what you choose :o)

I'm taking FI last name... too many Nguyen already out there... Plus his is two Asian last name Lai and Ao ... so I'll be Kathy Lai Ao :))

why Lai Ao?? because he's Colombian and they take after both parents last name lol..

I think you should go for Wu Zhang cool initial... AWZ :)

I think whatever you want to do is fine.

I had/am having a challenging time letting go of my last name b/c it's asian and DH's last name is russian. I am 99% sure I'll be changing my last name to my middle name and take his last name as mine. I just can't let go of my last name!

On a side note - did your mom's take on your dad's last name?

Right?  I know for sure I won't let go of my last name.  I would either just keep my maiden name or just have my last name be made up of two words.

My mom did take my dad's name--although she randomly uses her maiden name for some stuff.  LOL.

I dropped my maiden name and took DH's last name. The reason why I decided to go this route is because I would like to have the same last name as our children.

I feel the same way, Zel. That's part of the reason why I'm thinking about it.  I don't want to be a family reject. ;)

And speaking of families...hope the pregancy is going well!  Good thing you changed your name. ;)

That's true about having the same last name as your children.

My mom also kept her maiden name..I think......actually..I'm not sure..she uses both!!!!!
