I guess I should answer my own post, hahah!
Alex and I mutually decided to get married before he "proposed". We agreed on it, and then he told me to keep it a secret until he proposed. This did give us the option to talk about how I wanted him to propose, but all I told him was that I
wanted something intimate and private.
sure enough, he proposed to me in the comfort of my own bedroom. Its was really sweet, but no big over the top story to tell. He gave me a cute speech about how much he loved me, got down on one knee, and gave me the ring that I had given him
just before we were long distance. He'd been wearing it ever since, even when he moved back. So I wore that ring at first, and then we went and I chose my own. =]
