Ok, so I have been to try several cakes...and after awhile its hard to remember that this one at this bakery was better then this one...so I have a couple that I would be very happy to go with. I read great reviews about this tiny little family run bakery in downtown LA...called Pasteria de Leche....so we went and had their cake...My FI loved it....I thought it was great as well...there prices were great, they would deliver with a low delivery fee...and they knew where our venue was...so I was like okay...we can get the pineapple coconut and the oh so fabulous tres leche.....

a couple months down the line...we have not paid for our cake yet...nothing is final...but we decided to order a cake for mine and our friend charlies birthdays...we had a combined moustache cocktail party last weekend...so we thought it would be a good time to test out our cakes and the reaction of people towards the flavors....so we ordered the pineapple coconut one for me and the tres leches for charlie....So Eddie goes to get the cakes and he gets there and my name is spelled wrong...which upsets him cause my name is Ashleigh...and when orders the cakes he takes the time to spell it out...and he gets there and it is spelled Ashley. So they fix it no problem.

Then we get home have the party and we cut the cakes and realize that they switched the cakes and mine is the tres leche...really not a big deal...everyone is having whichever one the want.

my thoughts are this...

if they made these mistakes on two birthday cakes...should I take the chance with my wedding cake? what do you guys think?

It seems to me that in the big picture the mistakes are minor and they demonstrated good customer service by fixing your name. With the wedding cake, you'll have a sketch and everything in writing. If you really like their cakes go with them. Maybe when drawing up the contract, make mention of your concerns. They seem pretty accomodating.

Since I am Miss Anal Retentive about things, that would erk me. BUT if you REALLY love the cake and the people, I would go for it. Just tell them you want a layout of what you want i.e:

Tier one: Coconut Blank Filling
Tier 2: Tres Leche Blank Filling
Have everything in writing, and call a week or so and verify... Even stop by and check if you can.

That is what they did for mine! :)
