Major venue trouble! Not sure what to do!!!

Aaahhh! Okay, so I'm really trying to not freak out. BUT, I am at a loss here....I went online to check the weather conditions at my venue (geniuses that we are, we booked a group campground for our wedding and reception) and due to this year's freaky rain and snow it is still closed (I was supposed to meet my decorator/coordinator there this weekend). Worse, it will be closed down until THE DAY BEFORE the wedding!!!!! And this is barring any unforeseen circumstances, like more inclement weather.

So, even if it does open up on time, it is most likely going to be wet, mucky, and possibly even snowy. We do not have the funds to book an alternate site at this point -- not to mention that we are 21 days out w/ OOTers having booked flights, rooms, and so on. Honestly, I would be okay to get a little dirty and just go with it, but I'm thinking of my guests & vendors!!! 

I don't know what I want to get out of posting this -- I just couldn't think of anyone else I'd rather whine about it to. :) You girls have been so sweet and supportive, so I think I just need a good dose of PW love to help me feel better. :) 

Aside from the love and maybe some spare prayers for lots of sun between now & then, if anyone has had a similar experience or suggestions, I am all ears. :) FI says we can bring in sawdust from his friend's shop to lay down -- but I just picture mucky sawdust..? My mom said we could get wood planks to put down on the ground...my coordinator says I should look into another site (again, with the 0$ fundage thing, it's not really an option).

Okay, I'm done. If you made it through, thanks for reading. I think I just need a hug. And wine. And, bring on my bachelorette party next weekend. :)

I am so sorry.  You venue is the last thing you should have to worry about.  The sawdust and wood planks may work.  

Shouldn't your coordinator be helping you a little more instead of just suggesting another venue when she knows there isn't any room in the budget?  Where's her creativity?  

I'm going to send sunshine vibes your way so that everything will dry up and be gorgeous so that you don't have to worry about it at all!

U should contact the people at the camp site and arrange to see the apaces in a week or so to see if it is feasible to arrange for planks or sawdust...it may not be that bad once u see it
If it is terrible and completely un doable naybe see if someone has a house u could borrow...in the mean time I'm sending happy sunshine vibes your way!

Aww, thanks so much girls! Your positive thoughts and encouraging words mean soooo much!!!! I am going to call on Monday and see if they will let me come up and check it out & get their input on how confident they feel about getting it open in time.

Sending lots and lots of sunshine vibes your way!!!  A thought just popped into my head about the campsite area and maybe you could find some hay to put down as well.  That would look so pretty with the wedding being outside and trees and so on.  I'm searching for some pics to give you an idea. 

Sorry to hear this but I think if the venue wont be able to work with you they should give you your money back in full. Wet sawdust sucks, even straw or hay would be alittle better but not much, think fairgrounds and mud. Hopefully things will work out for you.

Something like this (picture hay covering the snow), OR you could put tarps down first and then sawdust or hay or even the wood planks.

Diymom - I will definitely see if they are willing to refund if I can't use it. It's not a "wedding venue," but I did pay to use the space (for 2 days & nights, actually) so I would think they'd give it back if it can't be used. Thx!

Agree with scgirl and starbux, call campground and see if hay/tarps are an option. I would di that first then price it out. Go view the.site now if you can, if not in a week. That way you have an idea of what needs to be done. Tell your guests to bring galoshes :), try not to stress too much, and fire your doc, she should be helping more with this prob, then you will have more budget just in case. Like the others said, call the people from the site, and see if you can go see it asap, take some people with you who might know about what to do if it's really bad. Since the site isn't a wedding site, they might not have any experience in having to do it up for events, but they might have suggestions. And see what they allow you to do. Sawdust might be a good idea, but would you be responsible for getting rid of it? Can't imagine they'll allow to just leave it there, especially not it is a campground. But maybe I'm wrong on that one.

How far from the site do you live? Do you have friends with a house with a big back lawn in the area?

And speak to your DOC, see if she can help out, pull some strings for you with other places, instead of just telling you to start looking for somewhere else.
