When you're looking at recipes what qualities does it take to think "oh, I have to make this for FI/DH/SO"?  You know, a recipe that you wouldn't pay much attention to if it wasn't for him?

I'm not a huge spice person.  I prefer mild, but with DH I'm pushing myself towards medium spiciness, because he loves spice!  Hot sauce, red chili flakes, hot peppers, you name it!  So when I see a recipe like this, that I normally wouldn't give a second glance at, I think "I need to make this for DH".  I have Friday off work, so I hope to have this ready for when he comes home :)

Can I just say, that dish looks awesome!  But I could NEVER handle the jalapeno!  I think DH would die for the spiciness of it though.

I'm the same way athena... DH LOVES spice, but I just can't handle it.

Any kind of brisket - my FI wants to try it. I'm not crazy for brisket, but I make it for him. 

It's the opposite in my house! I love anything spicy and put hot sauce on pretty much everything, whereas my DH can't stand spicy food. :(

Just have to share that the mac & cheese recipe I posted above is DE-LICIOUS!!  It was met with rave reviews from our test group (DH and family).  It isn't that spicy, which could be changed if you added more hot sauce.  Instead you taste the flavors of the jalapenos and hot sauce.  We'll definitely be having this again!

DH really loves meat and potatoes type of things... so I've been trying different kinds of meatloaf and pork chops, more traditional "homestyle" cooking recipes. I'm not a fan of meatloaf and I don't really like pork that much but I keep trying for him... The last pork chop recipe I tried was actually pretty tasty so I may do that one again.
