The marriage announcement is a small card that you send to everyone who was either (a) unable to attend the wedding or (b) not invited to let them know that you got hitched. Most wedding announcements include a picture of the bride and
groom with a short message on who got married, when they got married, and where they got married. I think these are best for elopements, though. I don't know if many couples still do this today.
There is also the marriage announcement that is placed in the newspapers of your respective hometowns. This usually includes your full maiden name, DH's full name, when and where you were married, who officiated the wedding, your parents'
names, his parents' names and where they live, your educational background and employment, his educational background and employment, and where the happily married couple now resides. You may also put where you honeymooned. HTH!
