Well since the budget for military expenditures has not been approved and doesn't look like it's going to be approved in the near future...it also looks like my husband is only going to get paid for the next week or so.

I can't stand not knowing if this is going to be weeks on end of no pay, or it'll be rectified soon, etc. I'm super concerned about paying our rent and normal bills. We're still recovering from the wedding and moving expenses and since he's the only one bringing money home...I'm really worried.

Hopefully it'll be figured out really soon and there'll be little to no interruption in pay, but if it goes on longer than that...I just really don't know.

There's got to be more people out there that are worried!!! I guess I'm grateful that we're not planning our wedding in the middle of this, but bills are bills whether they're for the wedding or for life.

OMG I was about to post about this. It's awful! FI and I are paying for our wedding ourselves, so if he doesn't get paid, there's no money for the wedding! But honestly I'm more concerned about just paying our bills right now. I work full-time but don't make near enough money to pay for everything. I was already stressed about the wedding and now we may not even have enough money to pay rent???

I work in a newsroom and am following the situation very closely so I'll be sure to post something if I hear anything about the budget passing. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this.

Yes please do!! I'm freaking out a little bit, for real.

My husband is just kind of like..."it is what it is", but I am the bill-payer and the worrier in the family! :) I've been looking for a job for four months and still nothing and now this?? We don't have another income to fall back on!

Hopefully for both our sakes, it gets done SOON before it really can impact things badly. We have enough for rent for a couple more months, but when you add in phone and food and gas expenditures...I'm not sure how long we can last!

And this after we just learned he was getting promoted!! So much for extra money there!

I hope also that this is a very short interruption so you can get back on track with wedding saving as soon as possible!!

Still haven't heard anything... I'm getting so nervous! FI just graduated in December and just started his training a month ago, so we are still living paycheck to paycheck. We have nothing saved yet, so no paycheck = no rent!

I'm right there with you ladies I'm so worried about all of this I really don't want this to affect dh's credit since mine is already shot it's super important we keep his good for the future fortunately I work and can pick up extra hours if I need to but I still only make $10 an hour so my paychecks won't go too far. I'd hate to have to borrow money to get through this. We've got a little in savings but it's there because the military still hasn't discontinued dh's extra pay he got each month for recruiting and my biggest nightmare is that the military take the $1600 extra pay we've accumulated since he quit recruiting out of one paycheck which they will most likely do and us not having that money saved up. Then we'd really be screwed. I just really hope our bill collectors will be understanding surely there isn't a precedence for this. It kills me too because we've been discussing him going career but if the governemnt is going to jerk us around like this then I don't think so. God I hate Obama he refused to sign in the Ensuring Soldier Pay Act of 2011 stating that it was a "distraction from important work" um hello! Not being able to pay our bills IS important.

I was worried when I heard about it as well. But for us, I know Navy Federal is going to cover pay for the April 15th checks if it comes to that. Also the commissary's are to shut down,but FI said at work if so then military personal will work to keep them open. I'm really not that concerned about it anymore. No need to freak out when it hasn't even happened yet. Just have to deal with it!

I hear ya Hurleygirl... I hope the bill collectors will be understanding. You'd think so considering how many people this will affect. Fingers crossed for a deal before midnight!

Check out that article on CNN. Apparently as long as they reach a deal by Tuesday, military pay will still go on as usual. So breathe a little easier this weekend ladies!

My husband got an email this evening saying that they reached an approved budget I guess??? *sigh* Why why why do they do this to us?! :)

Hurley - job security is exactly WHY my husband chose to do this as a career, and then look at the situation! I guess we dodged a bullet this time, but it's scary to think of what could happen in the future!
