Hi Moms!

As our little ones are getting older when are you do/planning to do these milestones?

Giving up naps?

At 16 mths Kip is down to 1 1+1/2 hour nap a day

giving up bottles/boob completly

-Kip gets 2 bottles a day 1 to put him down for his nap and one for bed but I'm thinking of tring to wean him off soon. Unfortunitly it seems to be his go to sleep triger so I'm not really sure how I want to go about doing it.

The toddler bed

-We have a new additon coming in july(kip will be about 22 mths) DH thinks we should move him to a todler bed when the New baby is done in the bassinet. So probably 26mths. IDK I think he's still going to be to young. What is everyone else doing?

My boys gave up their naps at 2.5yrs....on boxing day :( it was a very bad time for me!! I loved nap time - my house was so quiet!
They went into beds at 18 months, and started using training cups when I started weaning them at 6 months, bottles were gone just after their 1st birthdays. We didn't let them have a bedtime bottle in bed, they had it on the couch, so we just swapped them out for training cups and after a couple of stroppy days they were fine with it.

@Canooknic- That might Have to be what I do with the bottles. He has them on our laps on the couch, but usually falls asleep in our arms or is hafe out so we can put him to bed.

How did the boys do moving to a bed at 18mths? were they all over the place? Did they fall out?

Naps: completely led by him. He transitioned to one nap a little later than normal at 18 months. At almost 28 months old, he still takes one 2-3 hour nap each day with no fight. I have no plans to mess with that.

Bottles: We ditched bottles when he self-weaned from the breast around 19 months. He never put up a fight transitioning to only sippys or regular cups. I think as long as he still got to drink some milk, he was happy. Now when he sees a bottle, he says they are for babies.

Bed: We're making the transition in a couple of weeks (when his bedsheets arrive) from crib to a twin mattress on the floor. We're doing the mattress on the floor because he moves a ton when he sleeps. We have a toddler bed that my mom bought us, but we've decided to just do the twin bed. Once he's good at sleeping in it, and not rolling out, we'll bring in the actual bed too.

I bought a couple of floor cushions from Ikea and put them either side of their beds. They fell out a couple of times, but it wasn't too bad because they landed on something soft!
I used a sheet and put it on sideways so I could tuck it in really well under the mattress (and they slept on the bottom half of the bed so it didn't need to be the right way round) and that solved the problem

My son will be 4 next month, and he just gave up naps. Now he sleeps about 12 hours at night instead.

Bottle was gone at about 10 months. He just stopped wanting it.

I think 26 months is fine to switch over to a toddler bed. You're lucky that he hasn't started climbing out on his own yet. :) However, you might want to consider easing him into the idea earlier than that. I could see some serious jealousy issues if you take him out of the crib and put the new one straight in. It's better if he doesn't associate one with the other.

Giving up naps?

When alexis decides.... Some days she'll take 2 others she'll take 1. (Alexis is 14 months old)

 giving up bottles

Tough, were also down to 2 bottles a day, morning and night... I think we could drop the morning one fairly easy but not the night time one. I am just going to play it by ear and see how she does

The toddler bed

Alexis dosnt sleep well unless she is in her crib or car seat so im thinking she is going to be late to transition... were planning on having #2 when alexis is around 26-27 months so we shall see
