We are in the process of re-doing ours...when it's done it will be between $450 to $500. It was $940.
That does not include insurance (about $1050 a year) or taxes (about $750 a year) we have no HOA fees either.

Gross. Our mortgage is gross.

I bought over five years ago, when 80/20 loans were legal and interest rates were high. Right now my 80 is at 6.5% and 20 is at 8.75%! We want to refinance, but because we're looking to move soon, it seems futile.

So, basically, with a $189 montha COA fee, approx $200 a month in taxes and insurance, one mortgage of $935 and one of $293, our monthly total is... over $1600.

We live in a Philadelphia suburb, but it's a condo, so it's cheaper and there's not a large property to up the taxes.

FCTF-we use to have an 80/20 as well, with almost the exact same rates.  We refinanced last December to one loan @ 4.25%!

I cannot remember exactly what our mortgage is, but we pay extra each month to hopefully pay it off early & so we pay $1800/month.  We live in a tiny town in Northern Colorado (40 min north of Denver).

We pay approx $1150 which includes insurance and taxes. We are located in a small town in central CA.

It's all very relative depending on the size of mortgage ($$) which is determined by your down payment & house prices, interest rates, length of mortgage (25 years, etc), etc.  So many factors!  Basically do the cost calculators and take into consideration things like how much it costs to heat a house, provide power, etc.  Take into consideration other costs like cable, internet, home alarm, etc.  Plus saving money, because home ownership is pricy and always has unexpected expenses!  Worth it in the end, but definitely pricy.  :)

Heehee. Our mortgage is $475 per month. I feel like a lucky lady! Of course...we live in an itty bitty house in an itty bitty town about an hour from Columbus, Ohio. And we're putting quite a bit into it to get it...er...modernized (as in, have kitchen plumbing that doesn't shower you every time you attempt to do the dishes and bathroom plumbing that showers you with hot water for more than five minutes;)).

Well as athena pointed out location does play a huge role!  I am guessing mine & DH's jobs would earn us a lot more living in SF Bay Area or NY/NJ than they do here too, KWIM?!  Your cost of living in general is just higher so your mortgage is going to be higher.  My friend's BF has a 1 bedroom apartment in San Fran that cost almost 4 times as much as our 2500 sq ft. house...it's all relative...
