Things are really starting to come along in our backyard!  We spent all of yesterday digging, tilling, racking and fertilizing... now we have flowerbeds to be proud of!

... well it was hot over here in Ohio!!  95+... yikes!  We did our best to keep working and keep cool.  We got started in the yard at 9am and kept working till 7pm.

We got the pine trees planted, the stone based purchased for the rain barrel, and all the flower beds tilled and ready.

Here's some pics.

Our backyard before: (I don't have one facing the other way... but as you can see the bottom half had nothing!

We planted two "green" pine trees on the left (I have no idea what kind they are) and on the left a flower garden with a blue spruce on the left...a trellis with a honeysuckle vine and bench (needs some roses and lilies still).  Those two trees back there are our neighbors.

Same two pine trees on  the right.  That left arrow is another blue spruce/flower bed closer to the house.   There's a bamboo plant next to it... random I know, but Matt had it laying around!! omg?!  really?!  haha.

Here's a pic of a bush that we trimmed into a tree just outside our back door.  It's a Rose of Sharon... gorgeous now that it's blooming!!  I never even noticed it before as a bush lol.

Everything looks great! I'm a HUGE fan of the blue spruce, but we can't grow them here :(  Trees are sooo slow to grow at first, but when you have mature pines back there, it'll be so worth the wait - and Christmas will be awesome if you can light them! The little bench and trellis is so cute, I can't wait to see everything all planted in with the roses and lillies!

I would kill for a backyard the size of yours!!

I love Rose of Sharon...it's one of the things I am most looking forward to planting when I have the time and money to start getting plants in the ground!
