My soon to be stepson's little league football team went to the Super Bowl yesterday and we won.  This is an image I took at the top of the stadium using my wide angle lens.  I have been dying to try my hand at tilt shift and I love the way it turned out, I love the miniature look.  That is actually my stepson on the white team about to kick the ball, lol.

Opinions?

Tilt shift to mimic the miniature look?  I don't know much in this area, but it looks fantastic!

Tilt shift is a specialized lens in which usually are used for architectural photography to correct, you guessed it, tilt and shift of buildings so they look straight.

Wedding photographers these days use them because those lenses can create isolated dof effects and make the picture look like minitures

on creating my picture I basically used a masking layer, by creating a rectangle that stretched accross the field from one team to the other, then masked it off and created a glaussen blur to the rest of the image on each side of the rectangle, then i increased the contrast and then over saturated the image a bit.  then i added a vignette.

there are actions out there for it, for instance Rita at coffeshop as a free action you can download to use in PSE and PS, it makes it easier for you to begin doing it.

You just used a regular lens, and created the miniature effect in PS?  Did you not use a special lens?  That's very interesting.

i actually used an old kit lens because i wanted to shoot at such a wide angle and yes i created the effect in ps. 

You can create a similar effect with PS if you don't have the tilt shift lenses..

canon actually just released an updated version of their 24mm tilt shift lens. costs about 2k
