I am writing this as an educational piece so that if any of you have to go you will know what to expect... instead of being caught off guard... like me.

I went in for my initial consult with my new Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) I've been to another RE twice but since we moved this practice is closer to our home. So I went in for my consult figured we would talk about our options, lab results, what testing we needed next, and leave. Well as I was picking up my purse and heading for the exit they steer me into an exam room for a pelvic exam... I wasn't expecting it but whatever I'm a big girl so I tell my husband he can stay in the room and the nurse and doc came in when I was ready. So the doctor does his exam and everything is where it's supposed to be and pulls out the speculum and says now for the rectal exam and I laughed. I thought he was joking! Oh no before I even have time to process that he was serious he sticks his huge fingers in my butt. It was over quickly and slightly traumatizing. When I sat up and the exam was over I smacked the nurse in the arm and told her thanks for the heads up and my husband asked the doctor what he had to say to get me to do that at home! I was so embarrassed! So ladies be prepared for anything!

On a more serious note I have to do more blood testing through out my cycle and a hysterosalpingogram to look for a blockage and an ultrasound to look at my egg reserve. I have a follow up in October I'll keep you updated.
