Hey all, wondering if anyone has looked into getting married in wine country early november . I'm concerned about it getting dark very early - when would we take pictures ? - and also that it might get cold. that being said, I dont want to push timing too much - just dont feel like october is doable ( we just recently got engaged and i'm worried all the cool places + hotels will be booked!)

I wanted an early November wedding too...

Friends of ours got married at the Lodge at Sonoma a few years back(www.thelodgeatsonoma.com) and it was beautiful. There is a garden/lawn area adjacent to the stone building. They got married in the summer and had the ceremony outdoors, with the reception indoors.

I'm not sure if you were thinking indoors or outdoors, but if you want an outdoor ceremony, you might want to consider a spot that has an indoor alternative, in case the weather doesn't cooperate.

Good luck & congrats!

I live in beautiful Sonoma County. I think its a great area to consider for a wedding. However, it does start to get cold and rainy in November. Considering light and weather, I would suggest an early afternoon wedding. Just as Chowbaby mentioned, a location with an indoor alternative is your safest bet.

There are many amazing locations in Napa and Sonoma. Chowbaby is absolutely right. The Lodge at Sonoma is very pretty. My friend is getting married there next month :) Kohler is getting married at Chateau Felice...a gorgeous site!

HTH!

Happy Planning!!!!

Here is where we looked for sites that include indoor facilities. The good news about November, is most facilities will give you a discount for off-peak month.
The Lodge at Sonoma
Ramekins in Sonoma
The Kenwood Depot
The Flamingo Hotel (no outdoor facility)
Willowside Hall in Santa Rosa
The Hyatt in Santa Rosa
The Santa Rosa Golf Club - expensive but beautiful
Paradise Ridge Winery
Mark West Lodge (Hummingbird Gardens)
The Villa in Healdsburg
Fountaingrove Inn in Santa Rosa
The Hilton in Santa Rosa
Trentadue Winery
We picked Fountaingrove Golf and Athletic Club. They are very nice there.
You can look up sunset times. For us, sunset is at 5:00, end of twilight is at 5:30. All pictures will be taken before the 4:30 ceremony.

Excellent list FutureMrsP!

Here's additional notes on those places:

-Kenwood Depot is small but very cute!

-Willowside Hotel was recently bought out by the neighboring school and no longer hosts private events.

-Paradise Ridge winery is gorgeous and very affordable for its location.

-*Mark West Lodge is beautiful and they offer great packages... ***perfect for planning quickly!*** A friend of mine was married there last year and they planned it in four months. It can be done :)

-Trentadue is very pretty, but pricey.

Although not getting married there, we LOVE V. Sattui - well, we love their wine (were members) but the grounds are very pretty.

Kunde has some AWESOME locations on the property, I love the look of the Dunfillan Ruins. So unique. Boot Hill seems really nice too.

Paradise Ridge seems more all ready to go for a wedding, if that makes sense? As opposed to like, Boot Hill or Dunfillan Ruins which looks like there would need to be a lot more set up.

If you want to do your reception indoors, Sebastiani's barrel room is amazing!

I don't know though, V. Sattui's ceremony area is very beautiful, I love their courtyard. But that is the only place Ive been to in person, so maybe Im biased?

I say V. Sattui with my second choice being Kunde ;)

We got engaged at V. Sattui and that's by far my favorite winery. It's very large and has a beautiful facility. Even if it's cold, you can have a gorgeous indoors wedding there. Good luck! :)

You know what place I thought was really pretty too? Don't know if you looked at it at all, but, Jacuzzi Winery. I loved it but it was a bit out of our price range: http://www.jacuzziwines.com/
