Hi everyone!

I'm marrying in a backyard on a pad that used to be for a gazebo. It's  surrounded by bushes now that we are going to clear in the front. But once we  remove the bushes, we'll be left with bare dirt. What can I do to spruce this up  and so that my dress won't get dirty? I've considered making some sort of petal  runner to cover that front area, but I'm not so sure about that. (I can't afford  real petals, the fake ones are sooo uniform looking, and it seems like a big  undertaking.)

Any ideas?

Maybe get some table runners in your color (or pattern that you like) and secure them in the ground around where you want? Here is a picture of what I sort of mean...

Maybe get some table photo 3449886-1 See how the purple is bunched up in a shape. Does that make sense? And just use disappearing stakes to keep it in the ground in specific areas. It's kind of hard to explain!

Either table runners (but those might be too thin) or a few table cloths, anything really with fabric.

I agree with uhlease get some long fabric to put around. You could also get Shepards hooks to hang rose balls on and put at the front edges around where the grass stops. I'm not sure of your seating arrangement or how wide the space is but I can also picture nice benches there where your mom etc can sit right in front.

You know? Actually, I saw some crazy fabric in the garment district in downtown L.A. that had big 3D circles coming off of it, and another one that had leaf-like 3D fabric coming off of it (below). I considered it, but I thought it might look cheesy. What do you think?

I like that white fabric a lot!!! Either that or a plain satin like fabric would be your best bet, I think.  Good luck!

in the pic the walkway doesnt look very wide.  i would take into concideration how big your dress is.  when you are wearing the dress is it going to be wider than the walkway?  if so, then i would suggest doing something to widen the walkway, even if it is just a carpet roll.  also, are you going to have someone walk you down the aisle?  that needs to be considered too. if the walkway is going to wide enough for you and your escort, then i suggest white tulle and white chrismas lights.  we have all seen pics of white tulle and lights swagged down the aisle, but you could put the tulle and lights directly on the ground on either side of the walkway.  would be decor and lighting.
