I am quite busy here trying to hang as much as I can while DH is away (2 weeks for work) and I am tired of bare walls and stacks of frames!

So I was working on the hallway earlier and so far this is what I have hung...

So my first question is, what color candles should I put on the holders?  They are currently off white and do not go with the space (the lightswitch plate is currently being painted black) I was thinking of mod podging some scrap book paper on to the current candles since I never light them I don't see it as being a fire hazzard...

and my next question is about the 'b's' under with the three frames...

Do you think they look out of place?  If so should I just take them down and center the horizontal picture below the two above?

In terms of using modge-podge on the candle holders, I say go for it!  I just wonder how nicely the scrapbook paper will form around them.  Have you tried that before?  When I've modge-podged I've usually used origami paper since it is a bit thinner.  I do agree, if you aren't going to burn the candles there shouldn't be a concern.

I'm trying to think about candle color too...do you think an ivory would look better?  Not as harsh as white?  Maybe another shade of green?  I see a decorative plate on the wall...what colors are in it?  Maybe a color from the plate to "pull" from it?

I don't think you should take your B's down...I love your intention!  I'm thinking they might need to be moved close together.  Maybe you can frame a smaller photo of you and DH, like a 4x6 or 5x7, and put that beneath the B's to help anchor them and pull them into the overall loo.?  Something like this, maybe?

I really like Athena's ideas...I agree!  I think it may be hard for the paper to form to the candles, but def give it a try!!  I like the first paper for that :)  If they don't work out I would get a different color candle for a nice pop of color.  What colors are on that plate?

You might even be able to find contact paper in a similar pattern and use that. :)

Funny thing... I am kinda really liking the placement of everything on that wall with the b's... I guess looking at it for a while it grows on you... We'll see what DH thinks about it before I do anything else... and if he doesn't like it, we'll give athena's idea (which I really like too!)

As for the candle and the plate...

The plate has just about every color in it...

There is off-white in the plate which matches the candle but I wasn't too keen on the off-white candles and the bright white trip in the room...

I have tried a burgandy candle (which is square or I'd stick it up there) just to see the color and it looked kinda nice, so I might go that route.

I was all prepared to try the paper on the candles and now I'm afraid too!  Although I did see something on Pinterest where you dip candles into melted crayons to add colors, maybe I could add color that way, even do more than one color (which would probably be way to much for the little space and right next to the brightly colored plate)
