I thought I'd breathe some life into this board! Afterall, now that we have one, let's use it!

So how about a poll?

1) How long have you been married?
2) Kids? BOTB? TTC?
3) Did you take your husband's lastname or keep your own?
4) If yes to #3, how long did it take you to officially change your name?
5) What is the biggest suprise about married life?
6) What hasn't changed at all?
7) Now that the wedding is over, what are you "planning"?

1) How long have you been married?

Six months on Saturday!

2) Kids? BOTB? TTC?

NONE of the above! We did just get a new puppy!

3) Did you take your husband's lastname or keep your own?

Both...I am adding his name to mine, no hyphen.

4) If yes to #3, how long did it take you to officially change your name?

Well...I am going to the SSI office tomorrow and the DMV next week! So 6+ months!

5) What is the biggest surprise about married life?

How much more attached to each other we've become. It's incredible, especially since we've been together for 7 years! But we definitely feel like family now. We're also more "homey" or nesting now. DH gardens and cooks and I am way into cleaning and organizing lately! WEIRD! Oh and we're being more "responsible"...we just got life insurance and finally have a decent emergency savings fund.

6) What hasn't changed at all?

Our independent lifestyles. We still spend a lot of time apart, which for us, is 100% neccessary for our happiness.

7) Now that the wedding is over, what are you "planning"?

Well I just launched my new event planning firm and DH has returned to school fulltime to complete his degree and change careers. We're also working on paying off debt and saving money so that we can buy a house (someday).

1) How long have you been married?

It will be 3 years this June - not so newlywed I'd say!

2) Kids? BOTB? TTC?

Don't even have time to think about it.

3) Did you take your husband's last name or keep your own?

I took his 'cuz I never liked my last name.

4) If yes to #3, how long did it take you to officially change your name?

2 weeks or so, I don't remember... it's been so long ago but it was FAST!

5) What is the biggest surprise about married life?

That 2 weeks after our destination wedding on Oahu, we moved to Maui! Wow, can't believe that it's almost 3 years already. Time flies. Since we didn't have any friends here at the beginning, we became more attached to each other and for once, I thought I was going to lose my independence, which is actually a very scary thing. Now that we have more friends here on the island, life has been great... and we have also been traveling a lot - which I so need 'cuz I get island fever every couple of months! =)

6) What hasn't changed at all?

The way we are. We are still the same!

7) Now that the wedding is over, what are you "planning"?

Other people's wedding/events. After working for another wedding planning company for the last 2 years, I finally launched my own event planning company last fall, and here is the company blog.

1) How long have you been married?
6 months

2) Kids? BOTB? TTC?
No kids yet, maybe in a few years.

3) Did you take your husband's lastname or keep your own?
I took his last name after thinking it over for awhile.

4) If yes to #3, how long did it take you to officially change your name?
A few months.

5) What is the biggest suprise about married life?
It's much better than life beforehand, which I found surprising because we had been dating for almost 7 years.

6) What hasn't changed at all?
Pretty much nothing has changed.

7) Now that the wedding is over, what are you "planning"?
Nothing in the near future. Next year I'm planning two bridal showers though (including Kristen's).

1) How long have you been married?
3 months

2) Kids? BOTB? TTC?
No. No. And No.

3) Did you take your husband's lastname or keep your own?
Just recently went to SS & the DMV and got it changed. My students still refer to me by my maiden name - as do I, it's a hard change!

4) If yes to #3, how long did it take you to officially change your name?
Nearing the 3 month mark.

5) What is the biggest surprise about married life?
The nicest surprise is that I always have someone to eat dinner with - no more eating dinner in front of my computer re-watching SATC for the umpteenth time. (Oops, I still do that when he's at the gym.)

6) What hasn't changed at all?
Nothing & everything. We didn't live together before getting married, so it's strange waking up to someone every morning, but it's nice that it's so comfortable & we're still the same - he's like my roommate, but better!

7) Now that the wedding is over, what are you "planning"?
Ugh, absolutely nothing, and I'm loving it!

1) How long have you been married?
4 years May 1st, so not too newly wed
2) Kids? BOTB? TTC?
Nope (not sure what the other two stand for) We have two cats
3) Did you take your husband's lastname or keep your own?
I took his b/c it is alot easier to spell than mine and I wnated to.
4) If yes to #3, how long did it take you to officially change your name?
I think a couple of months. I had to go to the SS office and DMV and all the credit cards and things like that. But not too long. I made it a point to try really hard and get it done
5) What is the biggest suprise about married life?
How I think we have become one. We are so much closer than we were and we were together for over 4 years before we got married. I miss him more everytime he goes out of town.
6) What hasn't changed at all?
He still doesn't pick up his dirty clothes unless I tell him too
7) Now that the wedding is over, what are you "planning"?
Finally some of my friends are getting married so I get to plan some showers and help them if they have questions.

Cool poll!

1) How long have you been married?
Six months last Sunday.

2) Kids? BOTB? TTC?
None of the above. After three years of I-can't-wait-to-have-a-baby urges, I'm dealing with the fears of how our life will change after we have a baby. So, I'm very content with waiting a few years... much to the disappointment of our parents. I think they were hoping we'd get pregnant right away.

3) Did you take your husband's lastname or keep your own?
I took his name. I have 2 brothers who will pass my name along just fine.

4) If yes to #3, how long did it take you to officially change your name?
Not too long. I procrastinated on some items. I think I still have a credit card that's in my maiden name...

5) What is the biggest suprise about married life?
For some unknown reason, I thought I'd feel different after we got married. But, in reality, I feel just the same, almost as if nothing happened. I don't think it's bad, right? ;-)

6) What hasn't changed at all?
Almost everything is the same. Our finances are a little different, and we make jokes like "you're the wife now, you have to do the dishes." or "you're the husband now, you have to mow the lawn."

7) Now that the wedding is over, what are you "planning"?
We've been struggling to plan a honeymoon. I don't get a lot of vacation time in a year, and his work schedule gets crazy sometimes. So, we're having some trouble planning it.

1) How long have you been married?
6 months!!
2) Kids? BOTB? TTC?
No kids yet! Not sure what the other 2 are...?
3) Did you take your husband's lastname or keep your own?
I took his...but my maiden name is still my nickname with some of my friends!
4) If yes to #3, how long did it take you to officially change your name?
4 weeks...and only because I had to renew my passport! Otherwise I probably would still have my maiden name ;)
5) What is the biggest suprise about married life?
It's not really a surprise...but we've really become a unit, a team....it's us against the world! ha! ;)
6) What hasn't changed at all?
It's all still the same...I love it.
7) Now that the wedding is over, what are you "planning"?
We are CRAZY and have decided to open a CUPCAKE shop!! Apparently, I can't handle not planning things...
