No wedding coordinator, has anyone not used one

I am doing so much on my own, everything is just perfection so far, with careful planning and double checking. The minister will give us the entire walk through, and timing on everything, for the day. I wanted a coordinator for the day,but the price is still the same, as if i hired her for the entire event, $1200.oo. She says she will do everything,(check out,set up, Que us/DJ on events of the night etc....) and be there the whole time

The DJ tells me he follows the wedding program, and makes announcements as they are written down.I have done my own flowers, no vendor, only other vendor is the cake, and a phone call from me in the morning will be enough.

Has anyone not used one, and had everything run smooth, or did it all go down hill?

HIRE ONE!

it's the best $1200 you'll spend

We aren't using one, but our venue helps us out a lot if we have questions, but the decorations, invites, ceremony program, recpetion details, everything is on our own!  It's way too fun that way!

If your venue provides an on-site coordinator (not just a banquet manager) then I think you're fine.  But if they don't provide anyone, or just the person that manages the food/beverages etc, then I might get one.  Our venue has a coordinator that does all the banquet stuff but also puts out all the things I provide like menus, place cards, guest book, etc and she keeps the schedule of events going so we're not getting a separate one.  If you don't have someone available like that, your friends and family might get stuck working on your wedding day! :(

If you don't use one, you need to make sure you have one person who is the main contact.  Even with specific directions, there are a lot of questions.  There needs to be one person other than you that they will ask questions to.  Otherwise you will not have time to relax and enjoy your own day!

We are not using one. I was thinking about it but decided I can do it all myself and will like it more that way.

If you are going to hire one at all I would just do a day of planner.

If you have a good dj and officiant then it will work out fine. Your officiant will help with the ceremony and the DJ will organize the reception

I didn't hire one, but I did put someone that I trust to oversee the whole entire thing on the day of. It worked out perfectly. Have fun planning....

Ok, here is the reality.... you can be fine with out one, but someone will be doing her job! My mom did the job, and wished she had one, said she would have rather enjoyed her daughters wedding day than worked. It is really up to you, if you do not want to spend $1200 then find someone else and hire or trade with them for less.. What is your location... I need reviews and will trade for free or transportation and meals..

you can plan out out by using a timeline/timeguide sort of thing.

have everything broken down.

give it to your DJ, because he will be the one announcing the events.

its up to you, if you have the extra money you can use one, but then it again, things could go wrong with her or him.

if you have an elaborate wedding day planned, it probably best to have one or have someone oversee the events.

if its a regular wedding, you can probably just get away with it by being prepared and having a printed agenda.

we are not using one, so I am biased, not married yet, but just a great planner.

good luck.

ditto heather/sunset hawaii

"someone" will have to keep track of how the day is flowing, problems with a broken centerprice (if that happens), DJ running late, all the mishaps that *could* happen...

do you, as the bride - really want to deal with all that shit??
