I thought it may be good to get a thread going where we can get some weight lifted off our shoulders with those who can relate to what we're going through.  So here it goes.  Vent about whatever you want industry related...be it school, work, etc.

Here's my major vent:

I am so annoyed that the highlight in healthcare now is $ $ $!  I firmly believe that caring for sick people should not be profit induced.  Come on!  Get the pt out cause insurance won't pay or send a nurse home to save $ cause census is a tad low and then get slammed 3 hours later!

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand that in order to operate, you can't be going in the red but somethings gotta give!

i had a horrible day at work today, so my vent is stupid charge nurses who don't remember what its actually like to work on the floor! she always makes the hardest assignments bc she hasn't had one in over five years and when you try tell her that maybe she should take another look at that she replies, "tough, thats just the luck of the draw" makes me want to cuss!!

dreaminbride- our hospital is on major budget cuts right now too, so i totally feel you on that one!

One of our charge nurses has been irritating me too lately! Our night-shift (the staff RNs do 12-hours shifts) charge nurses make the nursing assignment for the next shift and visa-versa.

Well, as the CNS for the TICU and MICU I'm responsible for the care we give our patients, nurse education, a bunch of stuff, when there's really sick patients I am in the room all day helping the nurses if they need it - ect ect

Anyway, I walk in last week and the charge nurse had assigned one of my newer nurses the sickest patient in the unit - which she needed the experience of caring for with me and other strong staff nurses there to help - but she also gave her the open trauma bed....W...T...F - so now it's 8AM and guess what?? There's a sick trauma admission to come to the unit.

This crap happens all the time - so now I have one of the nurses with a stable 2-patient assignment give up a super stable patient to the nurse with the super sicky and that other nurse then admits the new one - this could have all been avoided had the charge RN just given the sicky to her with another stable patient (there were plenty to choose from in the unit that day). She was pissed and I don't blame her...arrrggg...that's my vent for this week.

so frustrating jessie...especially being a new nurse on the unit.  Then double owrk ensues with report, etc.  Such a waste of time!

My complaint is patients who have flu like symptoms and complain about having to wait an hour to see the ER doctor.....r u Fing kidding me! Most hospitals have a 4hour to 24hour wait so go sit down, keep on your mask, and stop complaining....

Also I can't handle those who complain then someone who comes in after them goes before them...YES the person gripping their chest, going blue will ALWAYS trump you with your chest cold! The child with a fever will trump you too. The man with his finger in the zip lock baggy also trumps you. It's triage and if you don't like it them take some tylenol and go home.

I'm usually quite pleasant at work and don't talk this way to patients, but it doesn't mean I can't think it in my head:)

You have to laugh right because if not I'd really tell them how I feel:)
