NWR: Anybody know how to block numbers on cell phone?

I have US Cellular and am wondering if there is a way to block a certain number from calling me. I constantly get unwanted texts and calls from this person despite my telling them to not contact me anymore (is a person, not a business), and although their behavior is mildly stalker-ish, it's not bad enough that I will go to police or anything.

Basically they text me or call and leave messages saying, "I miss you", "I still love you", "I wish we were together", and "Our song is on the radio." Stupid stuff like that. My DH is totally aware of it and although it ticks him off, he agrees that it's not enough to go to the police and just to try to block the calls.

Anybody know how to do this??

I would call your cellular provider and ask them.  Tell them your situation and see if they can keep that number from being able to come through on your phone. If they cant do it, maybe they can help you get your # changed (even though thats a pain) that may be the best option.

What kind of phone is it?  I had something like that for my Blackberry.  I think it was called Berry Blocker or something.  Maybe Google your phone name + blocker?  There are tons of phone apps online.  Also, not sure if US Cellular does this, but TMobile blocked a number for me for $2/month.

Yeah, joyangela is right... you cell provider can block them. 

I’ve had this same problem, and my phone company (Verizon Wireless) was not able to block a number. The only thing that they could do for me was let me change my number. I made this request about a year ago, so maybe things have changed. If it is really annoying you I would just go ahead and change your number and make sure not to give it to anyone who he might be friends with so you won’t be in the exact same situation.

I know you may not want to do this but if it's that annoying then why don't you just change your phone #?

I work at AT&T (not the cellular division) but I did contact someone over there and we don't have anything like that on our phones! Not sure about the other carriers but it's highly unlikely!

You can download a comprehensive user manual for your phone off of the internet - this is all the service provider would do. Myself personally - I would just call the service provider (and get some PW time in while I sit on hold) and let them figure it out. I am sorry you have to put up with that - not fun.

Dang - I really don't want to have to change my number. :( Plus, I'm afraid that even if I do go to the trouble of changing my number, one of our mutual friends will stupidly give it to him. I'll have to call US Cellular.

My friend worked for Cingular and he had the same problem w/his ex.  Somehow he was able to have just her calls go to a message that said his number had been disconnected (though it wasn't)... I don't know what kind of feature that is, but that's the experience I've heard of personally... I hope you can come up with an alternative to changing your #.  That's no fun. :(

I work for Sprint and you can block numbers on Sprint and Nextel service - the best suggestion I have is to call your Customer Care number and ask them for help - good luck!
