NWR: Cabo or Mazatlan??

OK, so currently DH is in France for graduate school...poor guy!  His program sends him international several times during the two year program.  In May of next year, he's going to Monterrey, Mexico.  We're thinking of doing a little pre trip somewhere in Mexico before his session starts - to take advantage of the fact that he'll already be down there.  For convenience sake in relation to where Monterrey is, we're thinking either Mazatlan or Cabo.  I've been to Cabo San Lucas before so maybe San Jose del Cabo instead?  Anyone been to both or either and can give opinions on which is better?  I know nothing about Mazatlan... :)  TIA!!

sorry...i've only been to Cancun and Mexican Riviera....FI's been to Cabo...he loves it....

ha...thanks jax!  yeah, i've been to cabo too (the crazy part) and it's not all that romantic! :)  i hear san jose del cabo is nice but i've never been.  sheesh...only back two weeks from the honeymoon and already dreaming of another getaway.  i need a new hobby! :)

I have been to all. Cabo is my favorite. Mazatlan is nice but you have to be careful to stay in the tourist section. It's much dirtier there too. San jose del cabo is close enough to cabo that you can rent a car for the day and go check it out. But the night life is in cabo. Hope this helps.

i wondered about that pigsfly...i noticed that hotels in mazatlan are much cheaper than in san jose del cabo.  i figured it was because the area wasn't as nice.  hmmm....decisions, decisions...  thanks!

Puerto Vallarta is not much further than Mazatlan would be.  I would recommend PV over Mazatlan.  FI and I enjoyed Cabo very much but since you've already been there maybe you should try to something different.  From what I researched on our trip to Cabo, San Jose del Cabo is a very sleepy town with not much to do.  HTH!

We loved Cabo- our resort was on the San Jose del Cabo side and it's a super cute town. Many good restaurants (totally over priced, but it's a tourist town). Cabo San Lucas was much more turisty and there are far too many "vendors" hasseling you to buy stuff. Overall though, we loved Cabo and can't wait to go back.

Check out the Grand Mayan, Cabo Azul (of course!), El Presidente, Royal Solaris and there is even a Best Western on that side. Some are all inculsive, so you can save some money (unfortunately not Cabo Azul-everything was way overpriced, but still fabulous). Check Expedia or Travelocity for some deals

Haven't been to Mazatlan, so can't compare.

Puerto Vallarta was SOOO much fun! We went there on vacay once, but Mazatlan is more pricey and definetly a created-for-tourist spot. I hate the hassles of those vendors mentioned in PP. Never been to cabo, but my sis loves it.

I've been to PV before and it's beautiful!! So much to do and it's definitely more romantic than Cabo. We stayed at the CasaMagna while we were out there.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time Beatie.... Cabo or Puerto Vallarta??? Life is just not fair!!!  I'll say a prayer for you and your DH who is in Paris at this time. :( Keep the faith girl..
